Trent's coughing..

Alright, I'd hate to sound stupid... but my sister and I were arguing about something. What's the source of Trent's coughing? My sister says he smokes, but I can't remember...

Look - there is a little mystery to Trent that MTV makes. You dont know everything about him because hes not always on the show like Brittany or Quinn or Jane. You know everything about them. They are trying to infer that Trent smokes. Smokes what I dont know. That is what the mystery is.

Not to mention performing in clubs that have alot of smokers present.

But you know, now that I think about it a little further, maybe Trent does smoke a couple. Here's another over top notion.

In "The Misery Chick" Daria goes to visit Jane, and Trent answers the door. They talk about the Bobby Sherman incident, Daria asks if Trent knew him, and he says that he had a couple of classes with him, not that Sherman attended many. Daria says "Not like you huh"? Trent laughs and then we hear the cough. Trent replies "Yeah, I guess I missed a few now that you mention it."

Do I sense a double meaning? Why did he miss a few classes? Maybe to hang out with his friends, maybe smoke a couple in the bathroom??? It makes sense, now whether or not he still smokes is a mystery. His cough could still be caused by the various factors that everyone mentioned. And also, Trent might still light up on occasion.

Freudian slip? Anyone else here old enough to remember Bobby Sherman? My wife actually has one of his albums. No Daria is she. Anyway, to continue on the Psych 216 track (Personality Theory back at Point Park College, 1977), maybe Jung was right. On the last NG I checked into, alt.tv.dark_shadows (the closest I get to Goth), someone mentioned that Bobby Sherman is alive and well, working as an LA County paramedic. Synchronicity or coincidence? You decide. Anyway, as a career paramedic myself, I'm not sure whether to be proud or profoundly embarrassed.

No, but I was watching a Vh1 special one night with my mom and her friend. It was about teen idols from the 70's. I was amazed how they were rattling off all these guys that I've never heard of. Then they say, "Oh look, it's Bobby Sherman". I guess that's where the writers got the name of the character from.

I definitely remember Mr. Easy Come, Easy Go Sherman. I even remember thinking he was cute, although that particular opinion has definitely changed. Hmmm ... maybe it was the bad boy scar he had from a motorcycle accident that made him so "hot." *grin* Kinda makes me miss Tiger Beat magazine in a pathetic, weird sort of way.
