I remember one summer when I worked in the big D on an intership it never got below 90 for like 30 days-- and I mean *never* -- even at night. The pool was more like a tepid bathtub. Ick. I've been through the Panhandle at about 70+ MPH (which is the only way to see it.) ;-) The only cool thing in the panhandle is the Cadillac Ranch over by Amarillo. Now *that's* cool-- a bunch of cadillacs stuck in the dirt. (Granted, it's no Carhenge, but it's still cool in its own original way.)

Ah, but you forget to count the rest of the Metroplex... Besides, Dallas had 2 Million people in it in 1990. (At least that's what the sign said.)

Of course, all of this is kinda moot, since I don't live in TX anymore-- I live in NC. (Chapel Hill, that is-- it's a lot like Dega Street, only weirder, and cooler. <g>)

Oh no, I was talking about the San Antonio Metro population...in 1990 it was counted as being 1.5 million. I believe the DFW area is larger than that by a small margin, and Houston of course is the Big Daddy of cities here in TX, as well as an impressive #4 in the list of most populous US cities (behind NYC, LA, and Chi-town).

I'm sure with it being a college town and everything, Chapel Hill's got more than its share of quirks. Um...'kay if I joined you? :)

Wow. The one time it got that hot in Michigan in my memory, people were passing out. Well, one of the girls did. It was a really bad week to be at camp. It would have been a good day to sit in an air conditioned home and never emerge except when absolutely necessary.

Hey, I wouldn't mind moving to Chicago, although they do have that other side of the lake thing, whereas we're warmed up by an *only* freezing lake. They also have hotter summers I think. But it's a neater place than here. I'm going for a day next week at least.

I don't remember thinking too much about the fog, I just remember thinking, "gosh these streets are hilly"! My mom found it hard to walk a lot of places as she's got hip problems, so my dad and I sat her down and went off further on our own. Five minutes later we were back, because we weren't used to the steepness of the hills.
