will a daria soundtrack ever be?

Very good idea, although not all that new. There are just too many good songs on Daria, it'd be hard to fit them all on one album. If you really wanted a daria soundtrack, you might want to petition to MTV, although i think we all know how much MTV really cares about their public veiwing public. (They can't considering their erratic daria seasons, especially when seasons of crap like road rules are as regular as clockwork. Road Rules also always gets those mundane marathons. All i ask is for one more "Dara Day". Just one. Am I still in parentheses? Sorry.)

OPTION 1.

Anyway, a letter writing campain asking for a Daria soundtrack from MTV would probably (maybe) work. If they did, it might be nice to catagorize the types of music into seperate albums. Like, "Daria rap, Daria Hard Rock, Daria Pop", so on, so forth. That probably wouldn't fly, but I'm just spitting out ideas here.

OPTION 2.

Or, (and this is my little brainchild), they should have daria and jane host a 2 hour show of videos of the songs that have been on the show. they could even show the clips of the show that they came from. eh? eh?? ORRRRR

OPTION 3.

If you really wanna get a daria sound track, why not bootleg one? If you have a CD writer, Go to your fav daria site with a song list, pick out the good ones, and look for friend with the albums they're on. find a way to get conversations from the show, too. then, begin to mass produce and distribute. you'll be a cult hit, and every fan will want one. and every fan will get one. MTV will see how popular they are, and begin marketing it as their own. but try to keep the fact that you are the original source of the bootlegs a secret. you could get your ass in jail.

And this is a problem? Look at "Dirty Dancing" (but not directly, you'll go blind). For a two hour movie it spawned, what, fourteen soundtrack albums?

The problem with a Daria soundtrack is that as well as good music, a lot of trash is played on "Daria" (the pop played during Quinn scenes). MTV's impulse would be to use all of this garbage, as it sells better than anything more intellectual. A "Daria" soundtrack album should only feature music that captures the spirit of Daria, which IMO would be the alt-rock stuff, as well as some of the gothic music that's been playing during the more recent episodes.

Sounds okay. And an extended version of "You're Standing On My Neck", of course. (Perhaps some other Splendora songs - can anybody who's heard the album say how good the rest of their music is?)

Hail, The one thing totally missing in this thread, of course, is the simple consideration that this is MTV we're talking about. There will not be a soundtrack, and you can count on that. MTV was too cheap to pay royalties for the video (they instead grabbed some bum off the street to compose the replacement music for $.50/hour), why would they ever put together an album they'd have to pay royalties on? Especially considering the way they've already been handling the Daria merchandise... which is to say, they'll make it if someone else is paying for it. Unless Daria hits B&B or Real World status, it's not going to happen.

That's what I thought too. And the theme song and maybe a little something from Trent's band.

If they included the other songs that they play during the show than it would be a little to much. Like in "See Jane Run" they played that song "Too Much" when she sees that guy in gym. They played like 3 seconds of it so it shouldn't be on the soundtrack. And in "The Daria Hunter" they played, at least I think, "Gettin Jiggy With It" without the words. Would that qualify? I don't think so.

I am kind of new too, but I managed to read em all...all you have to do is set your newsgroup preferences to show only the last few days, how many ever you want to read, and then reopen the ng, at which point only the recent ones will be shown.

I'm not sure how Newsgroups works on your server, but is there a prefrences button? If there is than there might be some options on how you want the messages to be viewed. It's usually ALPHABETICAL, OLDEST FIRST and NEWSEST FIRST. That should solve your problem.
