Due to my sister-in-law's death, I spent last weekend staying at my parent's home in Milwaukee. While fiddling with the remote at night, I found Noggin..and Daria...and didn't like what I saw.
They showed "I Loathe a Parade" and cut out Jodie saying "We may be tokens, but we're damned good looking ones." What a waste of a good joke. I seem to remember Upchuck making some comments to the female police officers about a use of handcuffs that was also cut.
I've signed the on-line petition, but in case you haven't, this should be motivation to do so. Leave "Daria" alone, you mean old Noggin!
It's unlikely that rabid PC freaks like Noggin would leave in a joke that directly attacks their own stance, though having said that the continued existance of Mac and Jodie in the series would tend to stand out as an obvious case of tokenism if it wasn't for these little digs, so whether Noggin intended it or not, removing such a joke just makes them look like bigger bigots than they would by leaving the joke alone.
Just more proof that Daria is not really made for a channel like Noggin...
Must do. I'm not forced to watch the Noggin-fied version of Daria, but, at the moment, it is my only source to that wonderful show.
Did anyone notice during their showing of "Road Warriors" in the scene parodying the "Everybody Hurts" video, they cut out the scene where Daria thinks "Thank God"?

The you-know-what has already affected Daria viewing here as the planned episode of Daria (Season 5) got cancelled today for bloody war coverage! I wouldn't mind so much but with rolling news services on at least two UK run channels and a number of other channels too, all of which report, then repeat the same report, then repeat it again, and again, and again, and again, to the exclusion of all other news, why pick on Daria (or any other show) to put on a bulletin about it? If we really want to know, we know where it is!!!

Hell, all sex in the show is cut out. Because of that, The Lawndale Files makes absolutely NO sense, since you're wondering why the hell everyone's out in the woods (the scene explaining it starts off with Kevin and Brittney about to do it in the shrubs, with Upchuck watching, and was cut). So was My Night at Daria's... And many, many, other references... As well as any reference to alcohol, drugs, or anything at all offensive...
Man. I can't do this, watch Daria on Noggin anymore. Especially since I've now seen every Noggin episode 4 times...
This is sad. I love Daria, it's an amazing show, and when I can find a full episode off KaZaa or something, it's truely a treat. But I think soon I'll grow tired of the series alltogether, and move on, with it remaining a fondness in my heart. (Boy, that was lame). But soon I definitely will stop watching it on Noggin. Anyway. 24Seven and Being Eve are both entertaining me signifigantly... I used to like Degrassi, but eh.
I would, however, buy all of Daria on DVD if it were released in uncut box sets... It's weird to me that the IIFY and IICY DVD's are of the cut versions...
The IIFY video is of the version that originally aired without commercials on MTV. The IICY video, on the other hand, is the version shown after its premiere. I chalk it up to a mistake on the part of MTV and MTV/Paramount Home Video.
I hope we eventually see Daria episodes on DVD. However, we will likely see them with production music replacing the more recognizable songs they originally aired with. MTV is notorious for not nailing down home video re-release rights to songs.
I would like to see them reconstruct the Alter-Ego credits from the last two seasons, when MTV aired the end credits with previews of music videos and coming attractions. There definitely were enough Alter-Ego drawings to allow for this to happen.

Would they need to reconstruct them? They showed the credit sequence intact once or twice during the fifth season, complete with song...I figured that MTV had complete tapes, they just weren't bothering to show them.
The-N shows those episodes with full credits and music, except for this one episode late in the 5th season which I forget the name of, and at the end of that one they play this very generic looking thing that The-N appears to have made. It looks like there's supposed to be a box where some kind of previews would go, and with the credits on the side, kinda like what ABC and all those places do. But the box for previews is blank, and there is no music. Either they had no credits for it at all, the credits got damaged, or the song was too vulgar or some such nonsense (most likely).
The episode is "One J at a Time". The credits are the same ones that MTV used when airing the show, except the spot where they normally would play some stupid music video or ad for one of their shows is just blank. So, there's either no real credits for this episode at all or the-n was just too lazy to find them. It even says "MTV.com" at the end and on all the other end credits they removed any references to MTV.com or Daria.MTV.com.

Even though I have a slow ass dial-up connection, I've found hope in Limewire and a Hotline server run by this cool guy. I just watched "Daria!" too (although in a degraded RealPlayer format), and it was a GREAT episode.
