I know this must already be apparent to everyone else, but what does "shipper" mean? I know it refers to the Trent and Daria thing, but why that term? Is this some obvious thing I'm missing?
Also, as a side note, does anyone else think it's weird that a show like Daria-where the main character doesn't go for the whole popularity/fashion thing-is on a station like MTV?

MTV actually has a pretty good track record as far as animation goes, at least for a little while. I think they attempt to cover the broad spectrum of teen culture, and Daria is the token "brain." (In what regions of the US is this term actually used? Certainly not in the Central Valley of California.)
not really used here, although it's easy to see what is meant... I don't know what sort of term we'd use. Sort of "hey, you're smart" used in the same way someone would say "hey, you're blond" acknowledging this is a person to get to do work for you if at all possible or someone to copy on a test :)

see, we have that, but I don't know if it's really the same as "brain", it more refers to people who sit around talking about computer programming and computer games and mocking people who don't know anything about computers besides how to go in chat rooms and play minesweeper. You know, like my friends :)
