Question: where has it been proven that e-mail and phone calls are ignored, but snail mail is effective? It's just as easy to ignore a piece of written mail as it is to ignore e-mail or phone messages.

Maybe those using snail mail don't have computers. I think if a company is honestly concerned about public opinion, they'll look at all manner of opinion, no matter how it's obtained (unless it's an obvious form letter or chain e-mail).

Another tip for when you compose your letter is to avoid insulting MTV's programming. It is very tempting to say something like "How can you treat 'Daria' like this when you show crap like 'Tom Green's Real Road Spring Break Beach House Request Rules World Live: featuring Jessie whats-his-name.'" Try to mention the shows you enjoyed especially if it's from MTV Animation. The only MTV programs I like (aside from 120 Minutes) are from MTV Animation; The Maxx, Beavis and Butthead, Liquid Television, etc. Supporting the companies who run ads during Daria can't hurt either.

Be nice. You never know who is lurking. When NewsRadio was cancelled three members of the NR staff posted to alt.tv.newsradio (Josh Lieb; executive producer, Alan Higgins; writer, and Dave Foley; lead actor who played Dave Nelson) and admitted to being regular lurkers. If any of the MTV execs were to lurk or do a quick search of atd they will likely find some very hateful things about other MTV programs.

i would hope this would encourage them to cancel some of the other programmes, but that's not likely.

btw.. vossnet's appalling news server refused to let me receive the last few days' worth of posts, which is the reason why i have not posted for a few days... note that i was not using my time more efficiently while vossnet was *odd* and actually doing homework... so i have a 300 word psychology essay and a backlog of 9 hours (!!!) worth of french homework to do before tomorrow. like, right.

no opinions involved in this one, unfortunately. it's the introduction to a shitty little experiment thing we did about social rules in relationships with men and women. we have to do the methodology now as well, but that should be easier.

That sounds like when I did Art A-level - a lot of it entailed writing essays, and my Art teacher marked the grammatical style much more strictly than my English teacher ever had.

That's kinda annoying. The show is going strong, you'd think a 5th season would be a forgone conclusion.

Personally, I was going to wait until I'd seen the 4th season to decide if I even wanted a 5th. The way I see the direction of the show going, I've had a feeling since about midway through season 3 that maybe the show is about peaked, and that a 5th season or more might turn into beating a dead, sarcastic horse.

But as it is, I'm going to support the campaign, because I'd rather not risk it.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. I feel exactly that way. In fact I was just thinking today, as I watched 'Arts and Crass', that season 2 is my overall fave of Daria. It was good quality...

Thanks for the heads up. I couldn't believe they are using the 3 o'clock showing as criteria for cancellation. I for one will be explaining that some of us have jobs (not to give away my age) or even after school activities. Hello?! My boss' dad loves the show, so I think their criteria is cutting out a good chunk of their audience. Yup, one piece of my mind is going in the mail this weekend. (I lost the rest of the pieces, so now I won't be able to function - Ha! Ha!)
