Seriously, I wouldn't want it, either, if this particular element was to dominate the series to the detriment of everything else. However, I can't recall *anything* like that ever happening, so I don't think we have anything to worry about. Like everything else on the show, it'll be a part of it, but it won't dominate. And besides, if "Is It Fall Yet?" was any indication (don't worry, no spoilers), Daria and Tom's relationship is gonna be anything but smooth sailing. :-)

I hope not. Then again, this has never happened to Daria before. She's going to be exposed to a whole new bunch of situations. How will this affect her is the question. How Glenn and Co. handle this is another one.
Agreed. The situation with Tom's wealth is a factor. Plus it's clear Daria is going to have to work on this relationship to keep it going. Can she actually show love to another person? And how patient will Tom be if Daria is unable to be the person he expects?

Yeah, mostly I think you're right. Although in DDMD/IIFY Trent did come through for Jane when she REALLY needed someone to turn to. Like Helen did for Daria.
