Looking at our "near St. Louis" location for Lawndale, and tossing out the Huricane from "Daria!" (that episode is low on the Canon list, IMHO), most things seem to work.
I was looking at Danny Moreno's Mystic Spiral news-letter from "The Daria Database" and several things spring to mind if you try to map the travel times to the different clubs to any fixed location in the universe: either the roads in "Carter County" are totally ruined, causing people to drive really slow, or Danny's math is real bad, or the map is totally random and meaningless.
The map shows two major highways, US 77 and US 9. The closest thing I can find to that is US 77 and South Carolina Highway 9, which cross each other near Chester, in Chester County, SC. If any of Danny's travel estimates are anywhere near accurate, Lawndale would fit near St. Louis. If ALL of Danny's estimates are accurate, Lawndale does not exist on this, or any other 3-dimensional planet.
For the sake of the story I'm working on I'm going to go with Lawndale being near St. Louis and bag the huricane and Danny's map.
And yes, I'm having fun chasing down the clues and trying to solve the puzzle. Mostly because travel time from Lawndale to Boston is a major factor in the foundation of my story.
On a side note: having Daria and Quinn previously living in Texas (Camp Fear), would seem to put Highland, and thus our old freinds, Beavis and Butthead, in Texas. I wonder if Texas minds this at all? (and no, I'm not bringing them back! I'm not writing a grand farce!)
