ACK! I just clicked on some weird looking Daria link and this newsgroup thingy showed up. What do these things do? Don't insult me please, jus' help me out here.

Don't feel bad about it. I'm relatively new here and these kind folks have already kinda accepted me, er, I think. I don't feel as welcomed in other Daria-related forums as much as this one for some reason. Maybe I'm just more comfortable with youse guys. :)
And thanks a bunch to those who offered kind words (and scary stories) about my dental complications. :)
*L* Hey, thanx guys. OKay, so, one Daria related thing I've been curious about: is it true that Tom is gonna be around in the new season and that Daria & Jane are gonna fight more?
*g* At least you dont have to listen to horror stories involving chiropractors (or the docs who deal with the spinalcord whatever they're called). I have to see one on Wed and everyone keeps telling me: "Watch out, you won't come out of there with out pain."
If your interested in more dark New Orleans inspired prose check out Poppy Z Brite's stuff: Drawing Blood, His Mouth Will Taste of Wormwood, Exquisite Corpse, Love In Vein etc..
They're very good too ... I don't know how the comparison would go. The original one is like this multi-generational supernatural epic; *Lasher* is more like normal horror.

Yes. And until the new Daria eps come out we tend to just be social.
We're willing to know *you* too though :)

Yeah, but don't fret, we don't give a damn (for a flaky bandit! -- LOL) if you're new here, just as long as you continue on with the groove thang here.
You're not *the* Lizard Queen, right? I mean, you mean "Jane" and you think "Jane Lane", not "Jane Wiedlin", and you're not from Anaheim, CA, right? And you don't have a Portuguese-Canadian boyfriend in Toronto either, right? (LOL...bet you didn't know there was a person out there who actually was known as the Lizard Queen, huh?)
*L* To my friends, I am the only Lizard Queen they know. I got stuck with the nickname after two of my guy friends saw me crowd surfing at a Korn concert yelling out at the top of my lungs: "I am the Lizard Queen and you shall all mosh before me!!!" Needless to say, the name stuck.
I am from Southern Cali but not Anaheim.
*L* I don't even HAVE a boyfriend!
Actually now that I think about it, no I didn't. I don't know why i was screaming that name out while crowd surfing.
~Jane, Queen of the Damned, well maybe she's just damned. $E
Oh coolness. Still, that Korn mention convinced me you're not the Lizard Queen I've been aware of and knowledgable of since 1997. *whew* I thought she'd have at least mentioned a deep appreciation of "Daria" on the board we post together at.
(p.s.: her website's at http://members.aol.com/Duranimal4/ just in case you wanna go see who she is)
Whoa. Two Lizard Queens from SoCal. Cool. :)
:) 'Tis okay. Your Lizard King is out there, and if you don't want him, well that's okay too.
LOL...maybe you were thinking of the famous Doors quotation (by Jim Morrison): "I am the Lizard King, I can do anything", and thought, "hmmm, I can do anything too, but I'm female...ah-ha, Lizard Queen!!" A call to your own feelings of invincibility at the time, perhaps...?
And then of course there is the Simpsons scene (which is prob'ly a ref to that quote) where Lisa, whacked out on drinking some water from the (I think) Tunnel of Love ride in the amusement park they're at, shouts "I AM the LIZARD QUEEN!" while being dragged out of a fountain. I may have some of the details wrong, it's been a good year or two since I've seen that ep., but in any case it's a damn funny line.
You should watch it more ... it's a very funny show. Different sort of comedy than *Daria*, but still excellent.

Heh ... it was the *Duff Beer* amusement park. One can only wonder what was in their water :)

It's not so much that... it was stepping out of line a little, assuming a familiarity that I haven't earned yet. Would have had no qualms posting it elsewhere, cause the people there know me enough to take it in the right light.

Ah, don't worry. You're fine here. Personally, I really liked Affinity's approach of "Hi I'm lewd and come on strong. If you don't like it you can go to hell." works well in shock value and amusement.

She probably clicked on a "news:alt.tv.daria" link on a website and discovered the existence of newsgroups for the first time. I have such a link on my Daria page.
(For those who haven't clicked on a "news:" URL, it causes your browser to load it's newsgroup reading software and fetch the newsgroup in question. A lot of web surfers never use Usenet so they may have no idea what it's all about.)
