(late) Merry Christmas to you too. I must ask, what's a bagpuss? I've heard the word before but never found out what it meant.

He was just a saggy old cloth cat... but Emily loved him.
And I got a (Small) Clanger which actually makes *the* noise :-)
Don't worry - *I've* got no idea what "The Electric Company" is/was.

70's educational show on public TV, designed to help kids learn reading skills. Made for a slightly older audience than "Sesame Street," it featured over-the-top adult actors instead of puppets. The "Spiderman" bits were priceless (featuring ridiculously campy villains worthy of "Electra Woman and Dyna Girl", and a mute Spidey who only spoke in cartoon thought bubble captions). Much of the show hasn't really shown its age well, and as a result, it's rarely screened today.

There was a children's tv show called Bagpuss in the '80s... Bagpuss was a pink and white stripy toy cat.

Better still, the Flowerpot Men are back! Like the Teletubbies but with a more limited vocabulary and made out of flowerpots.

I can't believe there are people who make money coming up with this stuff.

It's good stuff though! Think of Daria, only with Daria and Jane renamed to Bill & Ben and animated as puppets made from gardening paraphernalia instead of being drawn as cartoons, and talking to each other using only the words "flobbalob" and "flobbadob", whilst Helen watches over them, only she's been turned into a large dandelion (or possibly a small sunflower) and can only say "Weeeeeed!" when she wants to admonish them. Or something like that.
I think in the new 21st century version Weed can actually talk though, which is sad.

Shez, what was the story with the Bubblemen?
There's this one Beavis and Butt-Head episode where Beavis goes absolutely nuts when he sees a Bubblemen video. They have smiley faces with antennae on top of their heads and wear striped clothing. I had never seen them before B&B. They seem to be some sort of British novelty rock band from the early 1980s. Sort of Devo-esque.
The reason why I bring this up is because they remind me of the Teletubbies and this Flowerpot Men thing you mentioned.

I'm afraid I've never heard of them. The only thing that springs to mind that fits your description of them is a teletubbies spoof which I think was done on the Harry Enfield show.

The Bubblemen were the postpunk outfit Love and Rockets performing under a different name. As far as I know they only made one album as the Bubblemen.

Ha! Love And Rockets in Teletubbies suits! What a long way from Goth!
I figured it to be one of those Devo-influenced dada bands or some Residents-worshippers, but that is so funny! Bauhaus members get into weird bumblebee suits...I'm ROTFLMAO! Thanks for the info and the laugh.
