Asking from past experiences with friends of mine, are most all of the people here ones who have seen every episode 7 times, have them memorized, and have them each on tape, or ones who have only seen a few and are trying to learn more about the show? Or maybe a little of each?

I'd say "a little of each" or "some of each" is a good description for the regulars here.

As for why I'm so interested in this show, well, let's face it, American TV these days is pretty much dreadful as a whole, with only a few bright points here and there-- plots are cliched, characters are overstereotyped, and the canned laughter (or the enhanced studio audience laughter) makes me cringe--especially in animation. It's refreshing to see a show that's actually making a statement while it entertains, and is doing so in an honest style-- no cheap ploys, no manipulation of certain romantic interests (well, ok, there's been a little manipulation, but not in an excessive manner-- only the fans are guilty of going overboard in that dept.) <g>, and no overcommercialization of the show-- although I'd still like to get a set of Daria mudflaps that said "Back Off" on them. <g> Hey, what can I say-- I always root for the Underdog. <g>
