The following characters I find simply detestable:
Ms. Li
Ms. Barch
Aunt Rita
Granny Barksdale
Granny Morgendorffer
Tommy Sherman
Terry Barry Barlowe
Then there are the characters that are simply not interesting enough, as presented:
Tiffany
Jesse Moreno from Mystick Spiral
I know that adds up to less than 10, but it's all I can think of.
I guess this proves I'm not a Tiffany fanatic after all.
As for Tiffany, I'm currently working on a series of fanfics about her which will provide yet one more explanation why Tiffany is such a dunce, how she might cease to be one, and what a Tiffany of normal intelligence would be like.
<Sandi> Hear that, Tiffany? Steve's going to make you a rocket scientist, or a brain surgeon. </Sandi>
<Tiffany> Surgery? Eewww! </Tiffany>
<Jane> Did he say normal intelligence? </Jane>
<Daria> Normal by Lawndale High standards. </Daria>
<Jane> Fine. She becomes Brittany. </Jane>
<Sandi> Hey! How did I manage to get dropped from Steve's shit list? </Sandi>
Because, Sandi, I find you too interesting as a character. Not actually very nice, but a character with intriguing possibilities.
She is pure evil. But she sure can be fun to watch. Particularly when caffeine/sugar buzzing.
Oh come on...you're not a Barch/O'Neill 'shipper? You gotta love that relationship, man...they are absolutely made for each other!
OK, I can see hating her. She's a spoiled brat who's grown into an absolute non-entity as a human being.
Unfortunately we never meet her. Pity. She could actually be an interesting character.
Oy. Ruth Morgendorffer. I know her, she was my Great Aunt Evelyn. Seriously. So many things she said in "Jake Of Hearts" could have come out of my Great Aunt's mouth.
Loser.
Loser.
To quote the Sex Pistols "Oh we're so pretty...oh so pretty...we're vacant." Still, I think there's something there, locked up behind those eyes. I had an idea for a fic which would kinda be inspired by "The Joy Luck Club" about Tiffany Mei-Mei Blum-Deckler's origins as a throwaway girl baby in China, and the liberal chic parents who adopted her. I don't know if I'll ever write it so if someone else wants to, go right ahead. You have to either read the book or watch the movie once before taking it on, though...
Heh, interesting about that character...he is sort of a rorschach blot test for Daria fans. Is he a boy hustler ala "Ragged Denim?" Is he half Native American with a father who might or might not be a Heyaokah Shaman ala my fics? Is he a loadie who's stoned all the time? Is he just a pretty face? I don't know whatever happened to the Mystik Spiral series...it's prolly languishing in development hell even now. Too bad.
Sandi is definitely on my shit list. Of all the people in the Fashion Club, she is the one with the least redeeming features. She is going to grow up to be Patsy from "Absolutely Fabulous." A burnt out husk of a woman with absolutely nothing to offer the world except a target for laughter.
All my experience on Usenet (ten years, to be exact) prepared me for Slashdot.
You would be surprised how many Daria fans lurk (some even posting!) there. One of the most notorious Slashdot editors, Emmett, is a major Daria fan. I think it's very cool that he left Slashdot and eventually ended up as CEO of Xiph Industries, the company that produces the audio codec Ogg Vorbis and the video codecs Ogg Theora and Ogg Tarkin.
I have always believed that Daria fans are a cut above the rest of humanity. Good to see my theories proven in real life.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I must've confused her with the other grandma.
I can see her becoming that, but for me it's a bit too obvious. If Sandi ever realizes her bitch attitude will soon make her the least popular of the Fashion Clubbies, there's hope for her.
Right! How could I miss Val-as-in-Val. I'm just not jiggy, I guess.

I can understand hating Sandi, but there is no character on the show less likely to grow up to be Patsy Stone. Patsy was getting bombed and snogging before she was Sandi's age; the closest Sandi has come to intimate relations with the opposite sex is kneeing Upchuck's groin during the audition for the Canterbury Tales play ("Fair Enough.") Patsy's defining characteristic is a total lack of self-control, while Sandi's main problem is being a control freak.
Nevertheless, at the end of IICY she had to decide whether she cared more about controlling the Fashion Club or having friends, and she chose to have friends. There's at least a smidgen of hope for her.
Sandi: And what exactly am I going to be burned out from? Overdosing on carrot sticks?
Stacy: Ohmigod, I heard about a girl who did that, and her skin turned orange like a carrot!
Quinn, Tiffany, and Sandi: Ewwww!
Now, *Linda* Griffin -- there's a person fully deserving scorn. And why aren't there more fathers on the list? Certainly Steve Taylor and/or Doug Thompson deserve to be on a Least Favorite Characters List. And how about Brittany's brother, Brian? I've hated him ever since he tortured the mouse in "The Lab Brat."
And how about Evan and Ms. Morris from "See Jane Run"? And then there was Nathan...maybe there should be a separate list just for Characters Who've Ranked on Jane.
Huh? In Ep. 106 "This Year's Model". Sandi is shown, how she was rubbing her hands over the bare chest of... I think it was Jeffy or Joey, to get a model contract. The smile on her face, showed us that she was quite pleased with the situation.
Ace Trax www.geocities.com/ace_trax "There he goes: One of God's own prototypes. A high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die." (Raoul Duke - "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas")

She was on stage in front of an audience along with Stacy, Quinn, and the unnamed 'decoy' girl (DG for short). They were directed to rub the boys' chests by Claude; Sandi, Stacy, and DG were all doing this and smiling. I don't think the implication was that Sandi, Stacy and DG were "quite pleased"; I think that they, unlike Quinn, were capable of faking sexually suggestive actions (which is something that real models are typically required to do).
(Incidentally, there's an interesting error in the modeling scene - there's a long shot of the auditorium and the stage at the beginning in which Tiffany is clearly visible with the other contestants, and she's seen from the back in the scene where Claude is talking about "Kitty Heaven," but she's absent from the other shots. I wonder if she was originally supposed to be competing with the others.)
So I write: Who knows, if they are pleased or not, if they fake or not? Women are a books with seven seals, the biggest mystery in the univers. (sigh;-) So the only fact in this scene is: The boys were definately pleased with the situation.
