1. Happy New Year to everyone. It finally became the New Year here in the Central time zone (U.S.). Wheeeeeeeeeee. I guess.

2. Apologies to Martin Sylvester for being an ass that last time I decided to post here. I was tiiiiiiired. Of everything.

3. For the first time in my life, I wish I was drunk. I'm currently doped up on Vicodin because these damn pains of mine are being bitches, but I'd rather feel bliss from this instead of lethargy.

4. I didn't get to play "New Year's Day" by U2 as the first song I ever listen to in the new year. I don't really mind that much. Am listening to a constant stream of '80s songs (np: "Missing You" by John Waite). Am also doped up with aforementioned prescription drug.

5. Ever have a certain feeling about something that you absolutely HATE having, but still have the compulsion to feel said emotion? I do. It suuuuuucks.

  • I promise you I'll come by more often.
  • Hugs to everyone. I miss being around here.
  • If you want to see a ton of pictures I scanned in, here's the URL:

http://home.earthlink.net/~ladyinterference/jpgs/

I got a scanner for Christmas and have been putting it to good use.

9. I officially declare that I have a "type". Slightly effeminate, with light-colored hair and fair complexion. A good keyboardist and a computer genius. Liberal-minded and a radical feminist much like I am. Being British is a major plus (1,000,000,000 bonus points right there). Also, a real passion for '80s New Romantic music is a major plus (another 1,000,000,000 bonus points). Looking like "Thin White Duke" David Bowie, Nick Rhodes, and/or David Sylvian circa "Quiet Life"/"Gentlemen Take Polaroids" would be mega nice, but would also be venturing into fantasyland territory. Not that much to ask for. *grins*.

I second that sentiment!

Everyone has bad days now and then. Apology accepted!

You were missed, too.

Hmm, should I upload to my webspace that photo of me when I was a beardless teenager, and then post the URL? Nope. <g>

If you've ever seen Captain Needer apologising to Darth Vader, in "Empire Strikes Back", then those words always seem funny :)

Yeah we missed you we'll use a bigger gun next time :) (only kidding).

No seriously your presence has been missed.

Hey maybe I should re-post the shot of me with my hair really long... like Michel Jackson in the 70's only mine's sorta copery redish brown.

Thanks, dude... I mean, Father. I just felt so bad once I realized how harsh I'd been to you. I'm glad you're cool with things now.

Awwwwwww, thanks.

Now all I need to do is find which tapes I recorded all those "Daria" eps on. Now that I've got some vacation time left, I should watch OH again. When I'm at school, the only TV I get to see is "Lonely Planet" and "Forensic Files" (and I get to overhear "Cops" every once in awhile).

(jumps up and down)

Yes! Yes! Please, Father, please upload the picture! Please? It could very well rate a 9.5 - 10.0! Y'know, I saw that one pic of you in front of that pub and, thinking about the way you would look without a beard, I think you might've passed for David Sylvian's twin brother in the early '80s... ? If so... MOST excellent!!

beardless

<sigh> Well, it's hard to say no to a request like that. Are you sure you wouldn't prefer to keep your illusions? It's a photo that made me cringe when one of my old backpacking companions produced it a couple of years ago. Still want to see it? Okaaay, here it is: URL: http://www.sylvesternet.freeserve.co.uk/mps-teen.jpg

I reckon I'm on a winner here. I'm vain enough to feel good if anyone should make a positive comment; the negative ones will be good for my humility (which needs exercise). 8-)

I am absolutely sure. Besides, I have photos that could only be used to keep away the cockroaches, I'm sure. Oh god, like my graduation photos... talk about a miserable set of pictures! Besides, if you were to look at the photo I already scanned of myself in 1983, I think you would see that you're not dealing with a supermodel type here.

Oh, I'm sure it's not *that* bad!

(clicks on URL)

(checks out picture when it fully loads)

OMG!! It's Ian Wright from "Lonely Planet"! Which, btw, is a very good thing. I have a small soft spot in my heart for him, so you can do with that what you may.

*giggle* You don't look bad in that photo, I swear. You look more like Ian Wright (the travel TV show host) than anything else, I swear. And if you had the same level of wit (which I have no doubt you do), then I would be a huge fan of yours. Not like I'm not already.

(pauses for a second)

Hey, may I have your autograph? *smiles*

Long, long ago, I used to be involved in theatre - at first as an amateur, and later professionally (though I lacked the ambition and drive to make a career of it), and your remark took me back to the first time there were girls waiting at the stage door for my autograph. It was quite a shock for a teenage lad, though not an unwelcome one. 8-)

That depends! Many pubs have varied menus, and the ones I choose to eat in all use freshly prepared natural ingredients. The more traditional pub meals would be things like a mixed grill, steak and kidney pie, fish and chips, bangers and mash, and so on, but many pubs have other options too, often including Indian, Greek, Chinese or Mexican dishes.

Ah, given enough time, you'd be downing a pint of real ale with your pub meal!

Heheheh that's one thing the UK does get before the US nah na nah nah na ! :) (BTW I'm joking for the humor impared).

Hey to re-itterate Martin's post, we all have off days, don't wory about it, and don't do it again :)

Humm lets see last time I got really drunk I ended up kissing most of the females in the department (fortunatly I was drunk enough that I *DONT* rember doing it). Though the off shoot of that is that one of said females is now "seeing me" if you know what I mean :) (Interpret that however you may, I'm not deliberatly trying to be rude.....).

Nah, me neither, but strangely enough I did play it on new years eve. I wouldn't expect you to be listening to anything *BUT* 80's songs, or at least groups that started in the lates 70's and erly 80's :)

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes, empathy is a curse.

Good, me too actually I've been kinda well busy :)

Hugs to you too :) glad to have you back.

Heheheh yeah I did that when I had my scanner.

Beavis:Aggghhhh no way fartknocker !

By Keyboardist do you mean computer or musical ?

Humm ok.

Hey I guess that includes Martin, Shez, Jeremy, (Alli) & Myself then.

Wow I am doing good 2x10^9 points already ! I'm gonna get a high score !

Perfectionist !

Put's me in mind of Beavis' chant when seeing Daria !

*snickers enthusiastically* Yeah, you do get to see all sorts of times before us here in the U.S. get to see them. Heh. You luckies. *grin*

Thanks. Don't worry, I won't. It's not going to happen again.

Dude. Well, I guess I should try and mull the whole "drunk" thing over in my head. I mean, I hate the taste of alcohol, so even when I was away from my parents in Las Vegas and left to my own devices, with something like over $50 to spend on as many mixed drinks as I liked, I ended up drinking two mixed drinks at the Betty Boop Lounge at the MGM Grand hotel (which is where I was staying) and quit after that, because I could taste the alcohol in the middle of the second drink. Oh. Whee.

*snicker* You know me too well. And darnit... I *still* haven't played that song yet! Maybe tomorrow. Or something.

*nods enthusiastically* Glad you can understand. It is, isn't it?

Heh. I understand. SO MUCH so. Actually, I was thinking about switching over to a cable internet connection so that I would be able to do online things quicker, thus freeing up more time for more things to do while online. Don't know if that made any sense. I'm blurry-eyed right now.

Thanks a ton and a half.

*giggle* Hey, what happened to your scanner? Was it hard to part with?

*snicker*

*slaps Beavis silly*

Musical. I guess if the guy could replicate Nick Rhodes' keyboard lines, I'd be enraptured, so do with that info what you will.

That's it? Just "Humm ok."?

Well, I'm hetero, so that would take Alli out of the equation. And my "type" does not include men of the cloth, so that would take Martin out of the equation. (In fact, I'm so perfectly groomed as a guilt-ridden Catholic that any thought of any sort of romantic feelings toward a priest immediately disgust me and make me want to run to the porcelain throne to relieve myself of my dinner. No offense to anyone.)

Heh. *claps enthusiastically*

*snickers* Yup. I is my mommy's daughter. Heh.

Actually, my mom is more of a perfectionist than I am, although I am perfectionist in some situations that my mom isn't. I do think that after a couple of years, though, I'll get to be like my mom as far as cleanliness in living areas is concerned. I'm already starting to get good at picking out little tiny things that are on the carpet or floor.

Almost everything reminds you of "Beavis & Butthead", doesn't it?

*grins*

Nothing wrong with that, of course. That show was the original home of OH, after all! *grins again*

LI (really wanting to go back to Vegas again, so long as Duran are performing there... heh)

That's cool. A committed celibate is always pleased to hear that he or she is out of the equation! Makes friendship easier.

That's a bit extreme, but still reassuring.

None taken!

(and later...)

Yeah. After I typed out all that I sorta wondered if any of that could be misconstrued. I guess not. Well anyways, it's disconcerting to hear of people who actually look romantically at priests... it's like, "Hello? These are people who took a lifelong vow of chastity, people!" *shakes head* I guess they figure that the only decent males out there are in the priesthood, but still, it's a very warped mode of thinking IMO.

Glad to hear of it. You are totally beyond cool, btw.

Though I guess it should be pointed out to put this in perspective that I believe it's only Catholic priests that take a vow of celibacy(sp?) for instance I have a friend who is a Church of England priest, and quite hapily married with childeren. So I guess it would not be so alien to someone who is non-catholic to be romanticly interested in a priest. (The above statement is not trying to imply either that there is anyting wrong with the way things are for Catholics).

Yeah Martin is pretty cool actually :)
