Has anyone else noticed the eerie parallels between Val and Jane Pratt of Jane magazine? Both run New York-based magazines named for themselves.
Val uses words like whack and jiggy, ie slang nobody seriously uses, and Jane runs an occasional slang feature that nobody would be caught using.
Both are shameless namedroppers. Gwynnie, Noni, Drew, etc.
Jane Pratt claims to be clued into the younger generation because she feels no affinity for her own, as does Val.
Val says "Sassy" and Jane used to run a magazine called "Sassy."
Val gets support from Drew Barrymore, while Jane's first issue had Drew on the cover, and a quote from her that basically said she HAD to be on the premiere cover.
Val says she should do an advice show called "Val." Jane used to have an advice show on Lifetime, but I don't remember what it was called.
I'm sure there are more parallels. I can't imagine that this is unintentional.
