OK, I want to KNOW...13 or 26?

Okey-doke. I've heard enough rumors. I've heard enough people say there are *definitely* 13 episodes or *definitely* 26 (well, I haven't heard that.) in the 2nd season as if they are the all-knowing. In short can anyone tell us, for a fact, whether we are at this season's end or just at the halfway point? I read in an article that there would be 26 new episodes coming but from the general feel of Monday's episode I'd guess that one was the finale of this season. 26 could be the sum total of this season's and the already confirmed 3rd season's shows (13+13 does make 26...). I guess I'm in denial over having to wait till February for more new Daria...don't we get a Christmas special like the B&B or South Park people did???

Well, I can *definitely* tell you that the MTV programming execs *may* know what they're going to do. But, as far as I know, they're not telling.

A "standard" TV season consists of 13 weeks of new shows, followed by 13 weeks of reruns, with two seasons per year. MTV hasn't followed this pattern. Still, most contracts for weekly shows are standardized on 13 episodes per season. Now, MTV may have contracted for two seasons (26 episodes). Exactly how they'll broadcast them is entirely up to them. They could, if they wanted, start broadcasting the "Season 3" episodes next week, if they're ready. My guess (and it's just a guess) is that they aren't ready. Animation takes time. We'll just have to wait and see.
