Yeah but MTV liked "Beavis and Butthead" because they made them so much money. Besides Beavis and Butthead still fit in to that gross-out, teenage demographic that MTV caters to so slavishly (see Jackass, Tom Green, and any other tasteless comedy that they introduced to the world).
Can't say the same for Daria.
Hell MTV even brought back Beavis and Butthead for their 20th Anniversary special.
I sure can't see them resurrecting Daria and Co for the 25th anniversary of MTV. I just can't.

I am not usually a negative person but MTV has short shrifted Daria so much that if they show any Daria, I will be totally surprised.
Me personally I feel airing Daria anywhere, anytime, is a GOOD thing.
But I know that I will not obliged by those who program the schedule at MTV. Now that the show is over they finally have an excuse not to show it. (a valid one at any rate).
I think Daria was created outside of it's era. If Daria had been aired during the early 90's, back when being a smart serious teen was actually acceptable for a quick minute, it might not have gotten treated so badly by MTV.
If I can take an example from the Hindu belief in dividing history into ages. I will use the female cast of Daria to represent those ages. The early 90's was the Age of Daria. The cynical, outcast, intelligent teen was the ideal, or at least a more lucrative market to exploit than it had been before. The music that fueled that ideal, and that era, was created by the anti-pop stars growing out of the 'alternative' movement.
By the time Daria was aired, the Age of Daria had already passed. We were approaching the Age of Brittany, everything pretty, popular, and limited.
We are now at the peak of that age and, thank God, we are now seeing it's decline. We might go into the Age of Quinn. Still self-absorbed, pretty, and popular but learing to be a little more intellligent.
Thank god these ages come in cycles. We might live to see the age of Daria come 'round again. But I'll probably be too old to enjoy it.
