Only one thing for me to say right now:

"The Lawndale File" is now in a three-way tie with "Lane Miserables" and "Speedtrapped" as season three's best episode to date. This one rocked!

Well, it was certainly interesting to say the least...somehow I had a feeling Ms Li's police state of a school would be especially susceptible to paranoia, I just didn't think it'd be *that* bad. Then again with the numbskulls who seem to populate the school in mass droves, maybe I shouldn't have been surprised.

I found it, um, interesting that Trent wrote a commercial jingle...for a local car dealership. Not odd or anything, the guy needs dough I'm aware...just interesting. Especially with that low asking price. Maybe I'm a doofus and don't know the value of an hour in a recording studio, but don't you think $20, an hour in the recording studio, and free tires was a little *low* for something that would be repeatedly shown? I mean, it's good if it was for a one shot deal, but there are supposed to be royalties involved with commercials, right? (looks around desperately)

Also interesting to note Jake's incessant hypersensitivity. Sure, he wasn't as bad as he's been recently (since most of it was attributed to a coffee high), but don't you think Jake should kinda be toned down a bit? I mean, his antics got Ms Li all riled up, which is just what we need Ms Li to be, right? (rolls eyes) Man, Jake reminded me of a hyper little kid at that point.

And what about Quinn and her mysterious way of acting? Over a simple neck pimple? Quinn, honey, there are two things that'll clear up that pimple problem in no time...oil free foundation as a concealer and a strong pimple medication like Retin-A as a treatment...and I knew that and I'm not image conscious. OK, maybe a little, but not to the point where I read fashion magazines or anything.

Oh yeah, and this may sound really lame to you or something, but this past Sunday was the first time I'd seen "Lane Miserables". And that was one *classic* show. Was *incredible*. I loved it. So...will do a quick change to my fave s3 ep code snippet thingie once I get around to doing the updated code. Right after it comes my until-now fave s3 ep, "TALD". A couple notches below that, I place "The Lawndale File". It was a good show, just, um, too interesting. Yeah, *that* type of interesting.

Gotta go. Have to wake up early tomorrow morning. Will try to comment more later on.

-BUT THEY WERE ~NEW~ tires!!!!

cheap new tires can run you $100.00! If they were better quality....

I liked this ep, especially the return of Artie and the gag w/ everyone in the bushes with flashlights. "what kind of idiot would stalk with a flashlight?""Well, this is Lawndale..."

Pretty good, but then again I LIKED DTAH so what do I know.

LOL. I know that new tires are good and all, but don't you think...ah well, unless the car dealership is unlike most all of the car dealerships we have locally and *doesn't* play the bejesus out of their commercials, then it was a pretty good deal.

Artie was...um, another interesting component of this story. The flashlights one was pretty funny though. They did prove that Jane and Daria more than know their neighbors.

I liked DTAH too. It was escapist fun. This one...was...um, yeah, interesting.

Yeah...everyone, weeklong sleepover at Mindy's! We'll have pizza delivered...um, on second thought, maybe there's a great Chinese takeout place somewhere close by.... *g*

Some do, some don't - on the south side most of them do, on the north side no. I actually like the north side cheese better, but most of my friends are south side cheese people. Whatever - although I wouldn't be surprised if sometime soon there's a northside/southside mob war over it. "The Mafia Cheese Wars of Kenosha." Scary.

I feel this exchange says it best (after DeMartino was escorted out by the agents):

Jane: Now the worst is over? Daria: Don't bet on it.

That's right...there were two more acts of this drivel. This was the most sitcom-ish episode I can remember. Due to the alignment of the planets, or whatever, everyone begins to act weird or think that others are acting weird. Daria actually begins to wonder if there's an alien invasion? Please. And in the end it's all resolved, nice and neat.

Very few laugh lines. But hey, Daria * did * say "Eep!" again, and this time the closed-captioning actually said it too. And they actually had Jodie...and her boyfriend whatshisname....Mick, Mike, oh yeah, Mack. I did actually like the idea of Trent "selling out" but not in the context of this episode.

I can't believe I'm going to say this: "Depth Takes A Holiday" was better.

The episode struck me as distinctly "The Daria Hunter"-esque, in that none of it made a damn bit of sense. Why Jake in the end, for example? He was there for no comedic purpose, and there's no real reason for him to be at LHS either... this scene would have been more at home in "The Simpsons."

Being hit on the head with a bat was better. "The Daria Hunter" was better. Watching twenty-four hours of Jesse Camp would have been better. Watching Quinn pick out a new spring wardrobe would have been better. I think you get the idea.

Well, since MTV hasn't seen fit to re-broadcast the episode, I had to run my tape. Not a bad episode, but I like ALL Daria episodes.

I'm a little disappointed no one has mentioned one of the best gags:

Jane: "When was the last time you saw Kevin without his neck thing?" Daria: "We're talking implants?" Brittany: "I heard that! And it isn't true!" Jane: "I guess she thought we were talking about her UFOs."

The Alien Love Goddesses were great! Especially the one with the glasses.

I know this is just a matter of opinion, but I really thought "THe Daria Hunter" was okay, I mean, so they all go paintballing. It just shows all the characters in different situations. It doesn't have to all connect for it to make sense, or for it to be funny!!!

haven't seen it but Daria

I have to admit, "The Lawndale File" was a bit stranger than most episodes, but I *really* don't think it was that bad, especially compared to "DTAH". At least they didn't have actual aliens come down and have Daria and Jane start hanging out with them! Anyways, I thought it was a fun episode that was able to inclue the whole cast which is something we haven't seen in a while! :)

okay. It was as good as Jake of

bad as The Lost Girls. I admit

P.S. Probably the funniest lines in that whole ep. was when Daria and Jane were talking about implants, and Brittany and Kevin walked by, and Brittany says, "I heard that, and it's not true!" I was wondering when that issue might come up....

This may be one of those episodes that you love or hate, there will be no middle ground for most of us. Like TDH, and D!,both of which I liked, and TNK, and DTAH,which made me want to throw my TV out a window.

Personally I like it, not as good as "Speedtrapped", but not as bad as DTAH. Of the 11 episodes aired so far in sea. 3, I'd rank it 6th, not bad, could be better, could be DTAH 2 (shudder). Aliens are at least a possibility, even if not a scientific reality just yet,the day holidays take human form is the day those men in white jackets will come to take me away, ha,ha!

Interesting, because my initial grade for this episode is middle range (not the best, not the worst).

Here is how I would characterize this ep (don't worry, it'll all be in the review):

The main premise was "miscommunication run amok" (it wasn't "aliens take over Lawndale" [Thank God]) The context of the word "alien" is not always clear.

Most of the characters were playing off of their own paranoia (which nearly everyone alive can relate to on some level)

I would say that TLF is a middle of the road episode (the jury is out for me until I can give the full DRR treatment)

In article ,

I agree (see the rest of my prev. post). As I said I'd rank it 6th, maybe 7th in the season so far, no where near the worst of the season, just not near the best of the season, either.

The other statement was just based on the early reaction in this group to the show. Everyone seemed to either love it or hate it, very few, if any were undecided from the early posts.

Later, A.J.
