#501 and Fanfic

I'm sruprised that no one has mentioned the great similarity between "Fizz Ed" and Rey Fox's fanfic "Choice of a Skewed Generation". They both have Ms. Li signing an exclusive contract with a soda company, and having said company's vending machines and adver- tising becoming more and more saturated in the school (including a cola-logo score board).

Another thing in that fic, although almost certainly a coincidence:

   TIFFANY: You know who I saw in a Jooky commercial once? (Struggles with
   pronunciation.) Jan.eane Garo.falo. Gara.uh.ofolus. That girl with the
hooded
   sweatshirts.

   SANDI: (Small shudder.) Uhh! She reminds me of that weirdo cousin of
Quinn that
   lives with.

I'm beginning to get suspicious... Honestly though, while I liked "Fizz Ed", I would have preferred a true adaption of Fox's fic, with Rey Fox getting the required royalties.

Awww! You think that is something?! I wrote into Snapple beverage back in like 1995 while a stock holder and suggested Snapple Ginseng Ice Tea. They wrote back, included a coupon for a free drink, and thanked me saying they were not interested at the time. NOW THERE is a Snapple Ginseng Ice Tea...a few years ago it appeared. No royalties or credits for me...just some big Snapple fatcat.

There was bound to be an episode based on this idea eventually...anybody remember the big scandal a few years back when some kid got suspended from school for not participating in Pepsi Day, where everyone at the school had to wear Pepsi logos? sad. i don't know what i woulda done if my school had ever done that. i wasn't the type that OWNED corporabilia. probably just woulda wore a ratty Descendents shirt, like every other freaking day of my life back then....
