Daria is in a rut. Of course, Daria in a rut is still better than most TV, but still.

Once Jane left the club and Trent agreed to do the song, I could have turned off the episode and not missed a thing besides funny lines. That plot was that predictable. Perhaps we've just analyzed Daria too much, but still.

Oh, and another thing. Can there be ANY doubt as to Trent's songwritings abilities (or lack thereof) after "Hey, Mr. Normal"?

I did too. I think that both lyrically and musically it shows that Mystik Spiral is improving. I think that the improvement was intentional on the part of the writers, and that it foreshadows some Season 4 developments in Trent's career.

I think we can all admit that there are a few barnacles on the 'ships ;-), but it was for me a pleasant predictability, if it was entirely predictable. Daria's reactions were a little on emotional outburst side which is *not* her type. Sure the reconciliation was seen a mile a way, but could you have predicted that Daria and Trent would actually have a *serious* discussion as equals, that Trent would kiss her (for any reason--they're not that close)? I'd have to think about that a long time before I'd give you that.
