Ok, we've got more and more ideas coming in, so please keep em coming (And please, let's not turn it into a post-columbine thread, ok?) ====Old post====

====end==== Here's one that'll piss gamers off: When you do something that'll result in the game coming to a permanent halt, have the storyline carry out for a little while before deciding to end it. For example, what if Daria to actually took up an offer by Upchuck, you'd want to actually see how that rides out. Right? And maybe when Jane decides to ask why Daria would do such a thing, Daria finally realizes she's done a really stupid thing, and then BAM!, teen-stroke. Gotta start a new game. >:-)

And if you decide to take off during a Mystik Spiral set, should it not continue while you're away? Later, when you come back , you realize "Oh [address], I missed it?!?"

That might be an actual problem. I've seen some games that require an entire memory card for one save. This might be something that'll have to wait for the PSX2 next year. Besides, with the almost limitless capabilities the PSX2's DVD format offers, MTV could actually fit eight times as much of what we were hoping for in the first place.

Now that's a lot of Daria. Maybe too much......... :-)

How many game posts were there? I could only see about 4 or 5. The thread mutated like crazy.

Or a good sneaking game like Tenchu or Syphon Filter. I really wouldn't like to see standard game mechanics, though. I said it once and I'll say it again, it better NOT be a platformer.

It's too bad that the playstation doesn't have an internal clock like the Sega Saturn. "Knights" had an interesting feature where depending on what day or time it was, the backgrounds would change. For instance, if the clock was set to christmas, the background would be snow.

I wouldn't want to be pissed off at a game, but I do like this idea. I think maybe it should have like a million possible endings. If you make a bad choice like that, you'd end up finding yourself in a sequence where you could still play for a long while, but unknowingly you'd be headed straight for one or two bad endings. However, I think there should be some sort of exit strategy in all cases. Like, let's say you were in Upchuck's house but you decided to knock him one good on the head and climbed out the window. I want the freedom to do odd things like that.

Yeah, one thing I really like in a good game is freedom. I want the freedom to go and do anything I want to (but at the same time not get totally lost in plotline limbo). Lots of games stick you into a storyline and keep you stuck in it. If Daria had branching storylines to explore, even overlapping ones, that would be AWESOME!

Although if you had one storyline, it would still be alright as long as I still had an awful lot of freedom. Tenchu is my favorite game that utilizes this. In it, you get a mission and are stuck in a big area. However you decide to do that mission is up to you. You can go kill everyone, you can hide and sneak to the ending, you can take any path you want, as long as you do what's required.

This also brings me to a freedom of control type idea. I think that if this did end up being a dialogue game, you should still be able to use the buttons to do physical stuff, like pick up objects or whatnot. Maybe even hit somebody. Maybe an "action" button (like in syphon filter or metal gear) that gets activated by the background or other interactive objects. You could use it for anything ranging from opening a door to climbing a ladder. Then there's the "menu" button that would allow you do specific things or to ask strange questions. However, I'd like to avoid is having to bring up a menu just to initiate a conversation. That should just be walking up to someone and hitting one button to automatically take part in chat (like in any RPG). Then you could opt for a menu for dialogue options ("oh well", "i love you", "i hate you") or physical options ("Kiss person", "slap person", "turn back on person"). A Daria lover's dream come true! Interactive Daria! Make her do what you always wanted!

If you did miss the show, maybe that would have an effect on the game later on. Like it was mentioned before, there probably should be some sort of timer that counts away. I wouldn't want to have a stringent time limit on the game, but your timing and being in certain places should mean something. This would make for some excellent replay value.
