Daria Wins! This was why I loved this episode. The whole world seemed to conspire against her. Ms. Li for putting her in the situation, Jane for abandoning her (not really, but you know what I mean), fate for leaving no other slots open, and giving her a not very perky voice. The seniors for their lack of taste and their dislike of her voice. Yet in the end fate smiles on Daria. She ends up reading with a nice lady, making both of their lives a happier place, and she did it on her own, not because Ms. Li wanted some letter.
I don't expect Daria to win all the time, and I enjoy the show when she loses too, but this was a nice change of pace from the past.
Other Notes: The return of Melody Powers, yippee! No Aunt Amy. There was a risk of using her as a crutch. Daria without her Jane is invariably more vulnerable. The FC was interesting, but not too key to the plot.
