Has anyone been to rich's site and seen the schedule? There are like two days of Daria and everything else goes a little somethin' like this: none, none, none, none, none, none, none! Not fair! They canceled the one that was gonna air on my birthday!

Right now, it looks as if MTV is running filler shows in the time slot for the nexr two weeks. No, I don't know why-- it's a lot of "Making the Video," "Backstreet TV," "MTV Sports" stuff. I dunno-- maybe it's some sort of desperate attempt to generate hype for the so-very-over-and-irrelevant Video Music Awards (which are full of nominees I'd like to see sealed in a small metal pipe and then have said pipe chucked into the Marianas Trench for the Benefit of All Mankind-- right there with all of the other hazardous waste. But I digress.)

Okay, I've had a look, and while I can't say for SURE, it does appear that the Daily Dose will be taking an extended vacation until after the Video Music Awards, after which it will return, but to a 3:00PM EDT/PDT time slot. (Sometime around the middle of September.) THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED. This is only based on info I've managed to scrounge off of the web-- VIACOM still hasn't issued a press release about MTV's Fall Schedule yet-- I guess it makes them appear "edgier."
As for the next two weeks, all you'll get are 10PM airings. (Except, of course, for the 9:30 airing of "Just Add Water," right before "Jane's Addiction" airs.)
IMPORTANT: If you want to tape "Jane's Addiction," you'd better set up the VCR Wednesday night, because it's not going to be rerun anytime soon-- no weekend reruns, no daily dose for a while. Starting next week, MTV will start rerunning the second half of season three with IHON at 10PM, but no rerun of JA beforehand. Bummer.
For those of you who wonder, this is exactly why some of us tape. (And get anal about it, too-- you never know when the next hiatus becomes a permanent one.)
Now, speculation as to why the Dose is disappearing for a while? Well, I'm guessing it has something to do with the Video Music Awards and the attendant hype generation desired, in conjunction with the end of MTV's little island party hut during the Labor Day weekend-- I don't think it'll take a month to move everything and everyone back to NYC, but it can't be easy, either.
Who knows? Maybe they're remastering the tapes so that there won't be any annoying voiceovers! (Yeah, right.)

Q: What does MTV consider to be the show's primary audience? A: HS students. Q: Where are most of the HS students at 1:00 these days? A: School-- but the ones that aren't there probably don't watch it anyway. Q: Well, then, who's watching at 1:00? A: Hung-over college students.
