On Sunday, November 22nd, "Daria" fan fiction author C.E. Forman will be dropping by the TalkCity #DariaFan IRC channel for a moderated(*) chat. If you're a fan of C.E.'s writing, or just want to hang out and observe, drop on by! The chat will run from 2:00pm to 5:00pm EST.
For more information, visit the Lawndale Commons IRC info page at http://www.2cowherd.net/catseye/thecommons/irc.html, which provides the whole skinny on IRC in general as well as the #DariaFan channel. Hope to see you there!
(*) A "moderated" chat is one where participants submit questions to the moderator, who in turn passes them onto the guest to answer. (This is as opposed to an unmoderated chat, where everyone can talk freely.) This chat is being moderated to help eliminate the possibility of users exhibiting rowdy behavior and causing trouble, in order that the chat remain fun for all.

Sounds like a fucking pussy to me. Why cant he be a man and go into an unmoderated channel. He thinks he's a fucking celeb because he writes lame fanfics, I hope no one goes and that the fat cow who ran ALC crushes you and your pathetic ego.

This particular message is directed at the main reason.
Actually, he doesn't. It's so refreshing to meet people that don't have such a pathological need for attention as you do.
Gee, I guess you really told *me*, huh? I suppose this is the part where I crawl home to Mommy and cry on her shoulder, then hide under the covers and never come out again. Gee, I'd love to oblige, but since I have a life -- something you obviously know nothing about -- I'm afraid I'll have to pass. Thanks for playing, and don't forget your consolation prize as you leave.

You have to ask in a newsgroup where people are talking about everything *except* Daria?
For that matter, I've not seen a single person say thing one about the upcoming IRC chat with C.E. Forman, despite the fact that many people say he's one of the best fanfic authors out there, and would probably have a lot of fun talking to him. Maybe if we changed the topic of the chat to "Dragon Diets and Other Such Nonsense" it would be more popular. :-(

Your right we should be talking about the brand new episode of Daria that was on monday...oh wait, nevermind. Frankly I'm thrilled to see there is activity in this group between seasons regardless of the topic. We are still here and when there are new episodes things will get back on track. Much love to the regulars who post to ATD.
As far as C.E. Forman, im sure he's good people and it would be a fun chat but I don't read fanfics (I have my reasons) so I would'nt know what to say about him or to him.

Don't sweat it. I just was hoping to see some conversation that fell somewhere within the galactic boundaries of the topic, that's all. :-)

here are some words from the late comedian Bill Hicks that I like to remember when life gets a little too creepy and weird.
"The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride..."
And we... kill those people.
"We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real."
"Just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter because: It's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one."
ok Im done quoting dead comedians now
OK, you got it. I am mad at MTV, sniper in the book-depository mad. Last night I was watching my tape of season 1 episodes of Daria that I taped off of the 3 pm airings a few months ago. I took a lot of time and effort to insure I had the opening sequence and closing credits on each episode and all commercials cut out. A bit obsessive, I know, but that's just the way I am. As I was watching I heard voices outside. I looked out the window, no one there. I went around the house to make sure I was'nt being robbed, no one there. So I sat back down and rewound the tape to where I had left off, as you may have already guessed the voices were on the tape. The MTV people fell asleep at the wheel, those incompetent weasels. They did'nt even seem to be testing equipment, It was mostly empty bantering. "hey, thanks for coming out today" "Hey, great to see ya." I was mostly inaudible mumbling but it was loud enough to be distracting. That laid out the groundwork for the mood I was in yesterday. Oh well...It's just a ride.

Huh. Can't have been as bad as mine. :) I have had soo much to do this week: English coursework, Art exam preparation, Biology test, English practice exam question, general revision for mocks next week....Oh, yeah, you know I posted about my French oral exam a while ago? How it went incredibly badly and everything? Well, today, I had my Spanish oral today, and it went even worse than the French one....I said I had a sister called Jason.....
A sky-blue dragon? I guess that's much more original than a red or green one. If I was a dragon, I'd want to be pink. And glittery. But then the next day I'd change my mind and want to be dirt-grey. It would depend on my mood, really. Right now I'd want to be glittery pink, anyway.

I just want to say that you guys have some of the best fights next to alt.comics.fan-fiction. Mood rings do turn pink a freind of mine got one from a sidewalk jewelery store in New York City. Hers was pink most of the time. It meant she was happy. Your right they don't have glittter.
Kenickie did say they might get back together one day "when we're all fat and have ridiculously big hair." Or something to that effect. But until then, I'm going to make everyone's life hell by moaning about the absence of sparkliness in indie music.

Alli, I wouldn't worry about it to much. Musicians are artists, artists are driven by the urge to create. The Pixies broke up but Frank Black still puts out albums, Kim Deal focused on the Breeders. The Breeders have been on break now for a few years and the members are working on their own projects (the Josephine Wiggs Experience, the Kelly Deal 6000, and Kim's band the Amps). There are several bands formed by former members of Weezer (the Rentals and Special Goodness for example). Big Black, the Beatles, Dinosaur Jr. Operation Ivy, Nirvana, the Sex Pistols. They have all broken up and started all new projects. I'll admit most of the groups that form from these ashes aren't as good as the original group but it's much better than nothing. Mark my words, there will be "sparkliness" again, just give it some time.
Then again, im still mourning David Lee Roth's split from Van Halen (not really).

You don't actually hear much of that sort of thing around here, unfortunately. It would be nice if there were radio stations that played the Breeders, but there aren't any more. But that's a whole 'nother story...
Yes. I always think funerals should be happier; if a good person has died, they've gone somewhere better, if a bad person has died, they've gone so others should be happy.
Y'know, when I was little I once was sent over to a gathering after a funeral to cheer everyone up. I do it without realizing it. I mean, I made jokes about how I want to be buried, (I want to A. Be burned, then put in a very colorful urn, and droped out an airplane B. Set on a raft in the middle of the ocean C. Buried in a very bright, colorful casket with lots of cheerful flowers and maybe a few cats, (At the funeral, not in the casket. I love cats.)
I want to be cremated and thrown into the sea. I don't know why; I have a phobia of going out of my depth in water even though I can swim.
I've never been to a funeral. My grandma died a couple of years ago, but I didn't go to her funeral 'cos it was in Greece and it was too short notice and stuff. I always think funerals should be happier, though. Weddings, now they should be less happy, seeing as how almost half of them end in divorce.
Hey, I was born sky-blue. Well, actually, it's just a very sky-bluish tint of green, since all dragons are green. . . . glittery pink, huh? Chinese or European? (I'm a mix)
Yup. But that's a different kind of dragon. The various sub-species have different coloring. . .
Ah. . .
That's what I get from my Chinese grandmother. A pearl in a little fold in my mouth. What a heirloom, (Actually, it's very useful. I get most of my powers from that 1 cm wide thing. . .
No really, really dark-green-almost-black dragons?
hmmmm, all this dragon talk makes me remember the days of playing "dragon Warrior" on my old original nintendo. The true original electronic role-playing game. man, how i loved that game. i could probably still talk you through it step by step, if i had to. anyone else remember this?

Yes, I remeber. The cheesy music, the cheesier 8-bit graphics. I loved it. the Slimes, the Mandrakes, the Wyverns, green dargons, red dragons all of them. Hour after hour of my youth wasted saving up gold points, building experience, sending that poor blue and white clump of pixels to die at the hands of the green dragon guarding the princess. I remember the feeling in the pit of my stomach when the hit points got too low and everything white on the screen turned orange. It's funny how you forget about these things only to remeber them a decade later with the mention of 2 words.

Not only do I remember Dragon Warrior, but I just finished playing it for the thousandth time a couple of weeks ago. I'm still surprised I got my old NES to work, because it had been sitting idle for a couple of years. Anyway, I could never get tired of that game no matter how many times I've played it {:)
I would still vote for the one that said something like "Newsgroup, meet Pot; Pot meet Newsgroup; here is the one that called the kettle black" or something similar(IIRC, Martin J. posted that one, too). It makes me laugh just thinking about it.
Nothing you dumbfuck, I'm gay. Such a big man to equate virginity as an insult.
Yeah, because he's a fucking pussy who doesn't want to face me.
Then why would he feel the need to have his net publicist advertise where he's gonna show up in IRC?
Yes, I wish I had the life you had. I am jealous of the guy who has to alert people to when his boyfriend is talking on IRC. May you smell Katherines sodding cunt rolls and tit cheese.
