Well you don't have Daria's motivations or thought processes. She is a complex personality and isn't bound by what is "in character" for her. Everyone has, at some point i their lives, done something that others might consider out of character for them. Its one of the things that makes us human and not two dimensional. Yes, and I come to expect that from human beings, and not the ficticious characters that I've come to admire. If The Fashion Club, and Cheerleaders and Jocks can be exaggerated, than Daria can as well.

Ok, now I know I can't even take you seriously, it's obvious you haven't read the entire thread.
I made the claim that people in the REAL world cannot act like Daria. Someone responded by saying that you could if you were good looking or a good fighter. I made it a point to say that Daria was not attractive and could not fight. I did it to point out how unrealistic Darias attitude could effect regular society. That if she existed in the real world, she could not get away with the things she says.
But Daria IS attractive. In fact I'd say she's drop-dead beautiful. (considering that she's a cartoon.) The thing about Daria is that she is attractive, but she chooses to conceal her attractiveness, hiding behind ugly clothes and an attitude. We've seen that she looks pretty good when she's "fixed up."
We've also seen that Daria is more popular than she realizes. There are people who care about her, though she can't quite accept that. Daria lives in a world apart, unattractive and unpopular, by her own choice. Someday she'll realize that.

But what I'm saying is that without being fixed up, she does not look attractive. I'm not talking about looking within. I'm saying any schumuck off the streat would take one look at her, and hear here smart ass remarks, would dislike her, and ignore her.

Well, you must live in la-la land. Here in New Jersey, people don't just ignore you, they want to be agressive, as if any smart remark is a total and complete insult. So, they want to defend their honor so to speak. I'm telling you, there is no room for Daria in this reality.
Okay, I agree with you about the way Daria acts; in the real world, it can get you in trouble. Lots of people start to hate you. Some even take it to heart. I live in New Jersey as well, so I have an idea of what you're talking about. And people do get aggressive if you piss them off. So I'm with you on that. But I think the thing is, Daria isn't forward with her insults. She doesn't come up to you and say to your face "You're an idiot." She's usually quite subtle. Plus, many of the people she insults don't know they're being insulted. She prefers that people just leave her alone; she doesn't make trouble for herself. Her attitude is unrecognized by most; they ignore her. If you're fortunate to be in her kind of situation, you will most likely be able to avoid a daily beating. That's probably the thin line that creates the difference. I hope that made sense. I feel kind of like I rambled. I just hope you understand what I'm saying.

Look asshole, I'm not going anywhere, no matter what you do. And you say that I talk nonsense, well I most certainly haven't heard one worthwhile thing come out of your mouth. I think you're full of nonsense. You care nothing for anyone elses views. You're a snotty little punk who hides behind a little pussy spam blocking e-mail device. While I stand firmly behind my adress and all the junk mail most of you buttfucks have more than likely sent me. I think you are the one who needs to move on.

Who died and made you king of alt.tv.daria? If you want to disagree with his opinion that's one thing, but if you can't do it in a reasonably respectful way then don't bother replying.

Let me translate. I believe he was calling you a haughty fuck, except he was being nice about it. I am not bound that restriction though.
She could *easily* pull that off. What about <<Daria makes you think otherwise? Do you actually watch the show, or do you read the posts on the ng and figure out a way to be contrary (sign of a true troll)?
You know, jsd, if you put up a post that makes sense, I'm going to accuse YOU of being out of character.

And if you act in a way other than an asshole, I might accuse you of the same. Okay, TRY and pay attention for once........
Have you ever seen Daria fight??? No, neither have I. Does that mean she can't fight? No, I don't know that for sure. BUT, we have not seen it happen, no writers has even touched that area yet. Maybe, just maybe my theory on her is right. The whole show is exagerrated, they know damn well that a person like Daria in our world would have gotten into at least one fight by now. And I'm not talking about her pounding on her little sister, I mean A fight with someone her age her size, or bigger.

Wow! You've just started a whole new thread. How violent can Daria be? Can she beat up Wonder Woman? How about Lisa Simpson? Can Daria thump Scooby Doo? Just how would a fight between Daria and Betty Rubble turn out, anyway? I just can't wait to hear what everyone has to say on these important subjects.
jsd, you have the troll schtick down perfectly.

No I'm being honest. I say I can sprout wings and fly, is that going to happen??? And I'd appreciate it if no came up with a smart ass reply to that one. The point is, I cannot spread wings and fly. Just because I think it, doesn't mean it could happen.

Hmmmmm, good point.
I don't think Daria wants to actually fight, just get the other guests at the cocktail party so riled up that they start fighting each other.

It sounds much more like something Daria would do, don't you all think? Incedentally... my Mom and her friend used to do this for fun when they were in their twenties. Get a bunch of people fighting, then quietly slip out the door. I come from a strange, strange family...

Not til long after a real person did. It's an old saying, prolly before your time. Definitely way before this "Optimus Prime", whatever that is.
Optimus Prime was the head of the Transformers, thank you very much.
I trace most of my messed up personality to the fact that when I was much littler (I still am relatively little), I got all the transformers except him. I really wanted him, but he was really hard to find.
He was a eighteen-wheeler that turned into a robot.

Okay, who originally wrote that??? You don't know who Optimus Prime is??? Ever heard of Transformers??
I love it! "Daria is neither good looking, by conventional standards at

is about: THAT WHICH IS NOT ATTRACTIVE AND POPULAR.
No, Daria is not attractive and popular. She's not good looking by
conventional standards. I am really at a loss for words. If in fact, you are so
dense as to not understand. If you have so completely sold out and bought into
the popular notion: That which is *Not* attractive and popular has no relevance.

The question that I answered was:
Could you get away with acting like Daria in real life? Most of the people treat her rather nicely, if a little distant.

Part of having an opinion is not to worry about those who are against you. I do worry sometimes, but not on this board, especially when I feel I can convey my thoughts in thought out manner. In public is another story. Most aren't afraid to tell it like it is, I tend to back down in that environment.
