Daria! and The Invitation (spoilers, maybe?)

I've just noticed that there are several scenes that those two share (I'm watching The Invitation right now). First, I got a case of deja vu during the Daria, Brittany, and the lunch line scene. The only visual difference was that in Daria! Jane was also there.

Just an anomoly, but then, there's the scene where Quinn is trying to choose and outfit for the party. She's looking in the same mirror, holding the exact same skirt.

I also noticed that this has the first instance of the Daria/Treant thing. Very short, almost unnoticable, but it clearly echoes all the other incidents. Jane: "Great conversional skills." Daria: "I hate you."

Mack's somewhat witty personality, unnoticable as it is, also make's it's first appearance here. "Yeah, and the ceramic tigers? They're grrreat!"

Sandy? I noticed, in the "bathroom line" scene that, just as Brittany passed, she made sure to say the word, "Jacuzzi" and look pointedly at her, with that trademark grin of hers.

I, unfortunately didn't see this ep before I'd already seen a lot of other eps. I wonder what I would've thought of this ep had I seen it as only the second ep ever?

Yeah. Without seeing other episodes, you'd hardly know what that line was about.

Mack has a sarcastic streak about as wide as Daria's cynicism. Shame he doesn't get more air time. I'd love to see a decent exploration of things between him and Jodie.

It actually WAS my first episode, ever. I tuned in during the first act, and was instantly hooked on the show. Thankfully, MTV was running a Daria marathon at the time, so for the next four hours I was glued to the screen (which really hurts when you pull yourself off...)

My reaction? I didn't pick up on any of the little things. The only characters I remembered were Quinn, Jane, and Daria; the rest were just random background folks.
