I started watching Daria when MTV was showing later seasons. Then they started showing the first season of the show and, I think, showed the first episode. It was interesting to see how the characters have developed. For instance, in one episode, Jane actually goes into the laundry room at a party to make out with some guy she thinks is cute. In later seasons, I doubt she would ever do this.
I really don't find much of what is on the tube these days to be interesting, but this Daria show is worth watching. I've been taping the episodes. I think it would be cool to pull the tapes out 10 years from now to see what we watched 10 years ago, and kind of compare reactions to it with the reactions you had 10 years ago. That is, if we are still using VHS.
I think that after what happened at the party (Daria surprising Jane in the laundry room), Jane would be very leery doing that around Daria again. In general, though, Daria's probably a good influence on Jane in a lot of ways, one being Daria's willingness to criticize her out of caring and honesty.
Sincerely Yours, Jordan

I had a weird dream last night that I was looking in a first aid kit and they had packets of "Glitter Berries" instead of antibiotics. Weeeird. Jess "Morgendorfer"
Daria: Do you believe everything adults tell you? Gupty Kids: Yes Daria: What if 2 adults tell you totally opposite things?
About 10 minutes ago I woke up (heh, at 1:40 in the afternoon) from one of the weirdest damned dreams I've ever had... it was like I was watching all this unfold; I wasn't the person doing it. Jane and Daria were there, oddly enough, at first. They were at a mall, and they went up to this art gallery in it. Jane started talking to the owner guy about artsey type stuff, and Daria stalked off for some reason or other after throwing a blue balloon with a picture of a yellow hot air balloon on it at his head, really hard. Oh yeah, and for some reason Jane wanted to build big low cost apartment buildings in Northwest Santa Rosa (my old town in California) and had made a video presentation about why this is a good idea
Cut randomly to the next part of the dream, where someone--not me, someone else--is riding in a car along a railroad track. At the end, they got to someplace called Saturn Falls which was like a small pond with this beautiful waterfall pouring over into it. Inside the pond were hundreds of rainbowish type fish, and next to the pond were all these freshly carved harpoons... heh heh. Unfortunately there was a sign saying "Fish property of Oregon Marine somethingorother," so this person couldn't harpoon 'em. That's when the person became me and started to help fish that had flopped out of the pond back into it. They talked, too; and I had to explain to some of them that they really *were* fish and had to stay in the pond.
That's why my boyfriend woke me up with a phone call. :-)
On Fri, 09 Jul 1999 14:00:50 -0700, some letters randomly coalesced from individual pixels, claiming to be from "Jessica L." , and it said:
Bwahaha! I wonder what this could mean? Are there people in your life who's limitations you must constantly remind them of, lest they get themselves killed doing something they really aren't capable of?
I thought we were talking about fish? I think Jessica did the right thing, I always find that fish are not very bright and have to have things explained to them.
And I couldn't just let them die, eh? I was terribly upset in that dream when one of the fish slipped in between a bunch of rocks and I couldn't get it back into the pond. I was just doin' a good dead. :-)
If you still have VHS tapes in your library then you'll need to keep a VHS player/recorder in working order to play them. (I'm still using Beta.) Do you still have vinyl LPs? Do you still have a turntable to play them? Or did you sell all your old vinyl records at the flea market and replace the titles with CDs? Just buy a bigger cabinet to keep your machines in as new technology comes along and keep the old equipment for those old recordings.
