Trouble in the Kitchen?

Okay, I'm sure that just about anyone who watched the airing of "Esteemsters" Tuesday on MTV US noticed the plethora of technical screw-ups. (Like echoes for 2 minutes in Act I, bad audio in Act II, and no audio for pretty much all of Act III and the credits.) Suddenly, they cancel the Wednesday showing (and a few others-- I can't get their schedule to stabilze, Captain!) and now I wonder what mangled tape awaits us today, or when I get home and check my tape, will it be another recycled MTV special or another Real Hurled/Road Drools marathon of moronity. *sigh* All I want is to be able to enjoy the &%(& show when I get home. Is that too much to ask?

I highly recommend that everyone send more letters to MTV. Apparently, they still don't get it. (You can get the address at Lawndale Commons, http://welcome.to/lawndale ) And in the biz world, 1 written letter is usually equated with 100 angry people (because the other 99 angry people are either too lazy to write, or they just move on.)

Oh, yeah, I'm still working on the new site, so it's not fully up yet. Be patient-- I jammed my shoulder into the mat last night in Aikido, so it's sore whenever I do any kind of work involving it. (like typing.)

Daria: Sorry, with all of this animation, I thought I was on Nickelodeon for a moment.

Actually, the proper conversion is

1 angry letter=12 angry viewers 12 angry viewers=1 crappy show 1 crappy show=1 happydude

Hey! I'd rather have my measurment system associated with good television. perhaps the sorrydude could be used for bad television.

1 crappy show = 1 sorrydude 1 Full House = 1 sorrydude

I did catch the 2nd half of Daria today and didn't notice any problems. Is there a east and west coast MTV or does the whole country get the same MTV?

I saw a very mangled 1st two acts of 'The Invitation.' The 3rd act was all right.

That sounds about right. Bob Sagat will be the recipient of this years "Sorrydude Lifetime Achievement Award" It is an honor given only to those who continually poison the collective conciousness of elementary school school students and people who are amused by irreversable reproductive organ damage. This year the ceremony will be held at pier 12. Mr. Sagat will be fitted for the "Sorrydude Lifetime Achievement Cement Shoes." Hopefully this will top last years "Sorrydude Lifetime Achievement Anvil" that was awarded to the Olsen twins in front of the Sears Tower. Food and drinks will be served afterwards during "Happyhour."

Too bad we can only off him once(that's got to be equal to a couple of Sorrydudes)

Next year will be the "Sorrydude Lifetime Achievement Machine Gun." Now, to find a suitible victim... I mean winner.

Yeah. Today's (Thursday, Dec 10) showing was more of the same: Black "teeth" chomping into the picture occasionally. Choppy sound--I had to turn it off--it made my ears hurt. And they didn't wait until the end of the segment to start commercials, they just cut into the segment. About the time I think I've seen every kind of mistake it's possible to make they come up with something new.

The showings of the last two episodes are a surprise. They'd been doing ok on the more recent episodes. They just kind of drop the ball on showings of these first episodes. Some of the problems I might have attributed to technical problems, worn tapes or something, but most of these problems seem to be pure sloppiness. I guess they figure that everyone has seen "Esteemsters" and "The Invitation" so it doesn't matter.

I had no idea that anyone could actually run a videotape slow like that. Frankly, I was briefly stunned by the stupidity of it, but then I was actually impressed in a sick sort of way by the new heights of incompetency someone there is aspiring to. I bet it's some executive's nephew or something, who can't get fired, and wants to see how badly he can piss off the viewers before his uncle takes away his Ferrari for the weekend.

Well, it matters to those of us who want good SP copies on tape for our own personal viewing pleasure.

They always seen to rise to new levels of incompetency when it comes to these early episodes. I'm beginning to wonder if the masters need to be redone from the celluloid. (If that's how they do it.)
