It is in the process of doing its final season now. There seems to be some argument about the cancellation reason, but the original reason given seems to be that the creator of the series has decided that it has just about run as far as it can go.

What time and channel is it on?

This post makes no mention of topic, subject or reference. Since the thread is about "Daria on imdb.com", the assumption is that you are referring to the series in general. The answer, therefore, is "Yes, it is a real show". So your next question is;

"Is it still on or was it cancelled."

To which I post the current disposition of the series, as far as anyone is aware. Your next post is;

"What time and channel is it on?"

To this point, at no time have you mentioned Abruptly Amy, your real identity or where you are (what the irc folk refer to as a/n/l). So I give you the best I can, referencing sites that I know have details on the broadcast status of the series.

Overall, no, you haven't offended me. In a way, I get pissed more at AOL for not being better disposed towards its users, instructing them better on netiquette. I've seen too many AOL users get into trouble this way, including some good friends who have since moved to other ISP's. But if I got offended by every little detail, I'd have given Usenet up long ago rather than taking on the mixture of groups that I do!

I hate to jump in here, but....I really don't think AOL wants its users to use anything but their services. No newsgroups, only "affiliated" webpages. If you are never in contact with the rest of the internet users, why should you be taught what really is only cared about "out there"? And if AOL were to lead people to discover the other parts of the internet, they could lose a bunch of users. Most serious newsgroup and net browsers leave AOL eventually. Of course, this doesn't excuse anyone's behavior. If you are going to post on newsgroups, you need to follow established rules. I just think AOL has an interest in keeping its users ignorant.

Well, I can't confirm it either. It's just a feeling that I have, based on my own experiences on AOL. I've been on AOL, off and on, for four or five years. It seems to be getting a little better, but not much. And I agree, it is quite sad. But frankly, most AOL users are probably better off on AOL than out roaming the internet, if chats and message boards are any example.

All I can say is that the very first newsgroup I ever posted on was heavily populated by AOL users in the beginning. (it was requested by a batch of people after the Straight Dope forum on AOL shut down) Of those twenty or thirty people, there are only around five or six still on AOL. The stigma is way too much to deal with if you do serious newsgrouping.
