Those nuts at the CC dept.

Anyone with closed captioning would know what I'm talking about. They're usually pretty accurate, but at some points you just have to wonder what they're thinking.

I notice that whoever does the CCing happens to be a Beastie Boys fan, as that's the only music that's pointed out unless there are lyrics. And reviewing my tape of "Daria Hunter" it's obvious that s/he doesn't know much about the show itself, as "Mack" was interpreted as "Matt" and the three J's were referred to as Guys 1, 2, and 3.

And no, I'm not deaf, it just seems... "cool" isn't exactly the word... to read and hear the words at the same time. Also, what a deaf person would be doing with Music Television is beyond me.

I've got closed captioning too and I've seen lots of mistakes. For Daria its been pretty accurate. But with some others they've been kinda off.

I've noticed something else that is odd about Daria's closed captioning. Most of the time it will come up but there have been several times where there was no CC at all, even though I've seen that episode with captioning. Same thing happened when thay did reruns of the video music awards.

On a side note, CC on the X-Files movie helped clear up the "I saw it" debate. Just thought I'd mention that.
