New information regarding "Is It College Yet?"

I received an e-mail from my friend inside MTV -- "Deep Throat," for those who still remember the "Outpost Daria Non-Foxing" incident -- with more info on the upcoming airing of "Is It College Yet?" I'll be putting this info online either tonight or tomorrow, but I thought y'all would like to see it now. (And yes, I wrote back and received permission to release this info, so there's no problem with disseminating it.)

* The uncut version of IICY will premiere on January 21, 2002 at 8:00 P.M. Eastern with only one commercial break. Like IIFY, this will be the only time that the uncut version will air. After that, the edited version with commercials will be the one that's shown (provided MTV deigns to air it again at all, of course).

* A clip show, "Look Back in Annoyance," will air right before the premiere. The show will, of course, be hosted by Daria and Jane.

* There will be episode marathons leading up to the premiere. The staff is trying to get MTV to air *every* episode in sequence, but of course, MTV is resisting. They're also pressing MTV to air more of Season 5, since most of those episode have only been aired one time. There may also be a marathon based on viewer favorites.

* Daria herself will also appear on "Total Request Live" as an audience member the week before the premiere, and will also have a tiny moment on MTV's New Year's Eve show. (Warm up the VCRs!)

That's it. You now know exactly what I know. Spread the word around, as I can't be everywhere (and there are some places I refuse to go, as many of you already know).

Due to lack of free time I'm a bit late on this issue, but here it goes:

I contacted YLE (the channel showing 'Daria' here) about IICY. I got a reply from the YLE program import supervisor responsible for 'Daria'. He told he had contacted MTV and that due to some unindentified *rights controversy* IICY won't available for "free tv" import before fall 2002.

Does anyone have more detailed information about this so called 'rights controversy'? (If this is a fact 'everyone should know', please forgive me. Maybe this one slipped past my eyes or I should read PPMBs more often. ;)

What do you mean, "uncut"? Daria doesn't strike me like a show with bad languege, violence or nudity. What kind of scenes will the network "cut" after the 1/21/02 showing?

Does anyone else besides me find it weird that there is no mention of IICY on MTV's webpage for the Daria show? You'd think they'd be promoting it.

The sense that I got is that my source pretty much figured that MTV wasn't going to launch an all-out media blitz for IICY, thus they're relying on word-of-mouth to inform the fans (since MTV isn't likely to do so... unless, of course, the movie is about a bunch of whiny Lawndale kids shacked up in a house or sent on a road trip, or Daria engaging in gross-out behavior, or tag-teams wrestling until their organs fly, or... well, you get the picture).

They're still paying him...he's under contract, last we heard. He's going to develop something else.

Except...rumors are that all new series programming is shut down due to cost cuts at Viacom, the same ones that s-canned the better part of MTVA and ended MTVI...so he's going to develop, what?
