Allow me to introduce myself... I have been a Daria fan for some years but unfortunately MTV Europe doesn't seem to share my enthusiasm... I have been following this NG for some time but as I found out I know way too little about the show to contribute something interesting so I decided to keep silent. However, I couldn't resist myself as the discussion in the thread "An Open Letter to Daria FanFic Writters" was getting more and more interesting :):):)

Okay, question: is this version 4.0 of the Jargon File that someone has hacked into HTML and added a load of new things to, or is this a /new/, /official/ release? And in either case, where do I get a plaintext copy? B (not your average AOheLLer) (and proud of it)
It's based on version 4.1.0, which was already html-ised. If you follow the "hacker guide" link in the top frame to <URL: http://www.xerez.demon.co.uk/Mbogo.htm> you'll find the rest of the jargon file, somewhat reorganised, along with a few cover notes to my variant of the jargon file. Basically I wanted to lead straight into the hacker dictionary stuff, and straighten out what I felt to be a confusing layout in the original.
My hacker page (click on image of microwaved CD in my main site) has a link to the MIT ftp site for a plain text version of the jargon file v.4.0.0, but for up to date info you should go to <URL: http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/jargon/> where the "genuine" jargon file can be perused online. I still find the structure of that site somewhat confusing though, hence my own attempt at setting the stuff out.
I have been meaning to release my Windows compatible html variant as a zip file but not got round to it yet. The original tar archive, apart from being fiddly to open, has several filename clashes if used under Windows (as contrary to appearances) Windows long filenames are not case-sensitive. Also I found the urls in the distributed version often have a strange format that doesn't work for any Windows-based browser that I have.

Uhm... I _think_ the MTV we get in Holland is the same as the MTV they get in the UK as most of the time when they show an adress it's in the UK... I think most countries in Europe get MTV UK... I know however Italy has it's own MTV...

Lately I haven't had the time to watch tv much... I discovered they were showing Daria again 3 weeks ago, I watched it but the episode they showed turned out to be 'Daria Hunter' which has been shown maybe 3 or 4 times now... Uhm... I think about 2 weeks ago they showed the episode where Quinn grew a braincell but got rid of it to prevent being ditched by the fashion club... However, they might all of a sudden start with new episodes... it wouldn't be the first time ... well... let's hope so :)
