This group is not in the 'alt.binaries' hierarchy. Certain newsmasters do not carry groups which include binary information because it takes so much disk space to store it all. If people continue to post binary files such as pictures and sound files to this group,

many newsmasters will simply refuse to carry the group !

If you want to post binaries, post them to a group like

                alt.binaries.pictures.animations
                alt.binaries.pictures.cartoons
             or alt.binaries.sounds.tv

and post a pointer to your post to this group. Further information on netiquette can be found in news.announce.newusers.

You should also note that, even though they appear to have lost one of the tapes, every image and sound-sequence from every Daria cartoon is currently under copyright and, theoretically, posting them without permission is illegal. While it is unusual for a company to prosecute in such cases, certain people have received unambiguously worded notes from the representatives of copyright holders after posting their work to USENET.
