Not with a whole new season of The Real World to air thirty times a day. I think maybe I ought to apply to be on that show. The casts are too cookie-cutter. I could be the lump in the back corner. No boyfriend, no girlfriend, no hermaphrodite I'm dating in between homicidal circus highwire performers, no twisted religious experiences.....nothing to mess with. I wouldn't even have to talk. I'd just be there, like a piece of furniture. Such potential, really. I'm sure they'd love to show someone sleeping on the couch all season. *I* think it would be more exciting than usual.

Maybe they'll start showing the episodes in the afternoon, as stated in another thread, later this summer...but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Here's a thought:

Didn't it seem like MTV gave Daria 'the bums rush' in regards to its scheduling? It seemed as if MTV showed all of the Daria episodes, methodically with little or no repeats, just to get the show off the air quicker?

Especially around the end of the series?

I know I should be thankful that MTV showed Daria at all but it seemed like they were trying to get it off the air faster. Even going as far as cutting short the 'season break' to get the episodes on the air and out of the way so they can continue to show the dreck (Road Rules, The Real World etc) that's always been on MTV?

Call me ungrateful, or maybe I'm still mad that Daria is gone, but that's how I see it.

I never thought they'd do a spin-off, but now I'm starting to wonder. Eichler working on a new cartoon about "college life" to follow up "Is It College Yet"? Sounds like there might be a connection. Maybe the big delay for IICY is so they can prepare episodes of the new series to follow immediately?

Has anyone heard more about this new Eichler series?

I'm pretty sure Janie Mertz took over for Susie back in the fourth season - I think that's her playing Andrea in "Mart of Darkness." (That particular appearance gave me an eerie feeling, since I once knew someone very much like Andrea, and I once bumped into her when she was working as a bookstore clerk - IIRC, she was wearing an outfit much like Andrea's store uniform. Sometimes 'Daria' is just too realistic!)

It also seems to be Janie Mertz who's playing her in Daria's Inferno. Though she's credited as Lisa Collins. I suppose she's in some guild, and uses an alias when she has to... but when she works as the crew she does on Daria, she goes under Lisa Collins. When voicing, she uses Janie Mertz, except in the early episodes, of course. Talk about a confusing person.

That seems to be a problem with other members of the 'Daria' cast as well, most notably Ashley Albert, who voices Ms. Barch and Tiffany, and has been variously identified as "Echo" and "Petunia," according the us.imdb.com. And then there was the mysterious identification of Wendy Hoopes as 'Hannah' in the Behind the Scenes special. Heck, there are almost as many mysteries about the cast as there are about the characters!

That's what i'm hoping for. I missed a good ammount of episodes this season and last because of school and work. Now that i have zero on my schedule because of summer, I really hope I'll get a day or two to catch up. BTW, don't give up hope. Don't forget that MTV did this last summer, but for several DAYS before IIFY, they had 4-8 hr marathons.

In "The Daria Diaries", Daria notes in her weekly schedule book "Study for French test: read Tintin comics". I've seen Tintin collections in English translation, but I suppose they can be had in the original French, even in the USA.

Glen Eichler is working on a new series involving college life. It *could* be a spinoff. It's going to be Eichler either way, so there's a *chance* it could be smart, funny and interesting.

Still hoping for that myself.

I don't think Kafka's available in Latin. You may have to do something really drastic - translate it yourself :-)

Now that would be fun. I don't know about anyone else's old yearbooks, but mine tend to be look rather interesting. Let me see......this past year, one of my friends wrote one of those cutesy little yearbook-type messages....only, this particular message was a discussion of a lunch date with the devil. Telephone number included for a later date. Signing as Vlad the Impaler was my style for a little while. I think it would be terribly fun to read the comments from Daria and Jane. I suspect it would look much like an exaggerated version of my yearbook.

Ah, we don't have yearbook comments. I think some of the seniors get interviewed and end up with "This school is so wonderful and I love it so much and I wish I could just stay here forever" in the yearbook, but that's it. A few superlatives here and there, nothing else. I wish we did, though, especially if I got to pick my own. I'm rather fond of calling myself Death in foreign languages. (my mother took a lot of the fun out of it by telling me that was okay, since death is a natural occurrence) There would only be two or three people who understood what I said....so fun.....but, yeah, my yearbooks tend to take on an interesting appearance.

Oh, I agree. That's why the yearbook staff can't ever interview me for the yearbook. I'd end up with one of those statements that puts me on some kind of "watch *extremely* closely" list. I'm not terribly fond of my high school. I don't see how anyone could be. Shame I'll never be student council president. They make the speeches at graduation....

Our yearbook was done by a small team and was basically the best points of our school lives with profiles written by a friend. The final version was heavilly censored to remove the more offensive items.
