Hey y'all (if you're still reading this ng) -- I'm back!
For the sake of posting SOMETHING related to DARIA (insted of all this porn), I'm asking you to sign the DVDaria petitions if you haven't done so already. (Links are in my sig below).
I just got THE CRITIC - The Complete Series on DVD, which I plan to watch from beginning to end over Memorial Day Weekend ( I get Friday AND Monday off -- yippee!!!). So, after I do some hardware upgrades to my iMac AND watch the entire LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy (box set should arrive later this week), I'll be zoning out in front of my TV watching what I consider to be the best animated series ever (after DARIA, of course).
THE CRITIC cost me about $37 and change on Amazon.com -- 23 episodes which aired on TV, plus the "webisodes" from Atom Films, and some extras. All on 3 disks. Breakdown: less than US$20 per season -- a reasonable price IMO. I'd pay at LEAST that per season of DARIA if --no, WHEN -- it comes out on DVD. (Gotta think positive here!)
Over 11,000 signatures have been gathered on the DVDaria petition since March 2001; on TVShowsonDVD.com, almost 1,100 people have voted for DARIA's DVD release. Those are good numbers, but we need to do MORE!
Here in the US, the RIAA awards gold status to videos that sell over 50,000 units and platinum status to videos that sell over 100,000. Imagine if we got over 100,000 on EACH of those petitions. The voices of 100,000 people demanding DARIA on DVD -- all 65 episodes and both movies, uncut, uncensored, with all the original music and extras. How could Viacom/MTV/Paramount Home Video ignore the international language of "cha-ching" any longer?
So, for this Memorial Day weekend, in between barbecuing, baseball & watching the war in Iraq, take a moment to sign the petitions. And get a few friends & relatives to sign up, too. Hopefully next year on Memorial Day weekend, the war will be over, Bush & his evil minions will be out of office & fighting over spiderholes ('scuse me, I mean overpriced 1-bedroom studio apartments) in the Ninth Circle, and the peoples of the world can peacefully veg in front of TV sets with their own personal DARIAthons.
And for those of you who don't get this weekend off, you can still take time to read & sign up anyway!
(And if this doesn't work, I've got a lasagna box ready to go . . . .)
