Cartoon Network.

Does anyone know why "Daria" isn't on The Cartoon Network? I see the potential for new fans on the channel. Seems like a no brainer.

Time Warner (who own Cartoon Network) might not want to pay Viacom (who own the rights to _Daria_, and own MTV) as much as Viacom would want to let Cartoon Network show it. Assuming of course, they actually SHOW it on MTV2. The only animation I get on that channel is "Beavis & Butthead" and "Celebrity Deathmatch" so my Daria fix has to come from Noggin, the two poorly made official dvds I own, and the official VHS tape that's not gonna last forever. Ugh...

How much longer they are going to do it for, though, is anyones' guess. Plus they only seem to show selected episodes from series 4 and 5 plus the occasional show of Is It College Yet.

Could it be that MTV is being stingy with syndication because they don't want people to get too saturated with the episodes before a possible DVD release?

I wonder if they're thinking in this direction but if they are it's shewd. Right now die-hard fans are hunkering for a DVD release. They should release Daria on DVD in conjuntion with a syndicated run somewhere (most hopefully Cartoon Network) a few weeks later, thus avoiding cutting into sales of the DVD while turning on a new host of viewers. One will feed off the other for hopefully a lucrative venture.
