I'm the guy who missed most of the first two seasons and part of the 3rd through a lack of cable TV. So, my question is for those who've seen them all.
Can anybody remember Jane and Tiffany exchanging any dialogue or interacting in any way? I'm writing a fanfic in which Jane says something about Tiffany (Tiff herself not being present).

<Tiffany> Well, yeah. I need --- all the good --- publicity I can get. </Tiffany>

<Tiffany> I was just ---- bummed about --- our newsletter. </Tiffany>
In fact, there's good evidence that before Daria came to town, thus providing Jane with a reason to notice the Fashion Club (Daria's sister being a member), Jane didn't even know who Tiffany was:
In the second episode, "The Invitation", Jane and Daria go to a party at Brittany's house. Jane, however, was not actually invited, and so gives a false name to the guard at the gate - "Tiffany" - reasoning that there must be at least one. The guard runs down the list, asking if she's "Tiffany Hodge, Tiffany Duke, Tiffany Fairchild or Tiffany Blum-Deckler?" Jane chooses Tiffany Duke, which turns out to be a name the guard made up to catch her.
Now, if Jane had known of the existence of Tiffany Blum-Deckler, she probably would have chosen that name, as she would have assumed that someone as popular as Tiffany B-D was invited to the party and would therefore be a suitable alias. Also, the tone of her voice when she says that there has to be at least one Tiffany indicates that she didn't know it for a fact, but just figured it had to be true.
This leads me to believe that Jane Lane and Tiffany Blum-Deckler just didn't know each other.
However, there are ways in which Jane could have heard about Tiffany through other sources, notably the night Quinn stayed over at her house ("Gifted") and apparently chattered all night long. It's not unreasonable to assume she must have spent some of that time talking about her friends, including Tiffany.
Also, in the episode "Monster", Daria and Jane follow Quinn around with a camera for a full day shooting a documentary on teen shallowness for O'Neill's class. Tiffany was there, and so Jane would have picked up a few tidbits about her during the course of the day.
That's all I can think of. Hope it helps!

I thank Mike Y for titbits from eps I missed when I didn't have cable. However, my fanfic, set during Tiffany's senior year (i.e., soon after Jane and Daria graduated), merely requires Tiffany's name to come up in conversation between Daria and Jane, and for Jane to make some offhanded remark about Tiffany staring in the mirror all the time.
There's ample opportunity in the evidence Mike provided for Jane to learn at least THAT much about Tiffany.

Oh, well, all you need for that is Stacy's rant about her that occurred in "Fat Like Me" which Jane witnessed.
Among other things, Stacy said she was tired of doing everything on her own, and said that all Tiffany did (and here she mocked Tiffany's slow drawl) was "Stare.. in the mirror... and talk... about yourself..."
Fifth season episode,, and one of the better ones overall.
