Thoughts on the Daria game

Hello!

Details are starting to trickle out about the Daria game that will be released in September. Places like Amazon are accepting pre-orders, and according to it and the publisher's site (simonsays.com) the title will be "Daria's Inferno."

I know, I'm thinking "Diablo parody" too.

But I'm thinking, maybe it can work. Since that real life can be considered Daria and Jane's own personal hell, maybe it's an adventure game where you guide them through everyday life in Lawndale. Heck, maybe Blizzard licenced the Diablo 2 engine to the developers.

One thing to note, on simonsays it says the CD is a hybrid. Maybe that means either the game will work for both PC and Mac or it's a data/music CD. Maybe it's also a soundtrack album as well.

Oh well, let's open the thread for discussion. Anybody else have some info?

Is that a problem now? I thought they'd finally realized what a joke the crypto export regulations where and had got rid of them. There should be no problem getting the Daria Databease sent to the UK if you really want it.

I think that's just Amazon neglecting to update their database. If all else fails, if you arranged for somebody to send you a copy it would be almost certainly OK. UK customs are more likely to be a problem as they seem to have a habit of seizing CD-ROMs in the post at random. The send you a letter saying they'll release it if you spend your own time and money proving to them the contents are _not_ obscene.

Usually it's cheaper and less bother to forget it and order another.

Yeah but with my current relationship with some of the US people on here, something ticking is more likley to get sent :)

I have ordered stuff from the US before and had no problems, though I would assume that UK customs would realise that Sun Microsystems and SCO are unlikley to be sending me porn :)

Hehehe I did think of a scenario for this that involved sending a copy of the disk first and then if this arrived ok, sending the original, and then seperatly sending the inlay etc :) Ok a bit of a polarver, but more likley to end up with me having a working copy of the software :)

Canada Customs is a huge bitch in that reguard, I had CDE Seized TWICE in a row. It would seem they just X-Ray packages and grab the ones containing CD-ROMS.

And I had a hell of a time trying to explain CDE is computer software and unless you have a Solaris fetish there isn't anything remotely sexual about it

And this was their logic, On the mailer the CD was shipped in there was the Solaris logo, I am sure you know what it looks like, Solar means sun, the sun is hot, IT MUST BE HOT PORNOGRAPHY!

Yeah, deal with Suns at work have Solaris 2.6 at home bought from the US just to try, seems you can buy Solaris 8 in the UK now, so if I get an upgrade I may go that route :)

Hahahahahahah ! people can be dumb at times, then again I suppose they always err on the side of caution, could they not open the package and actually look and see what's on the disk, then it'd be pretty evedent IMHO :)

Oh well geess I won't ask my friend who lives in Toronto to send me "Sick Sad Life Planner" :(

Hehheh thanks :) Actually I kninda realised that you and I, despite some differences of opinion (rembers nudity thread :) ),generally seem to get on ok, which was why the apology to you before the flame in the gun thread, I wasn't directly having a go at you just a rant about the topic :) Actually I don't think I'm likley to get any threats, and I prolly wouldn't take them perticually seriously anyways, as most of you live safely thousands of miles away.....unless of cours the second ammendment (the one about right to bear arms), covers Nuke Tipped ICBMs :)
