Betrayed by silicon...

Just a note to the group, and to those who rely on my little site--

Last night, some sort of catastrophic failure of my computer occurred, leaving me with a machine that won't even go "ping!" unless I yank out the memory DIMMs or the CPU. After wasting a day (and $50 on a new PS), it appears that the motherboard is fried. (If I'm lucky-- if I'm not, it's the RAM or the CPU. Ick.) So, the Bad News is that I'm not going to be able to participate much in the Group-- well, I'll be limited by the laptop's SW (BTW, I decided to name the Laptop "Quinn"-- hey, it's attractive AND popular. <g> And in its present state (lacking some important SW/data that I haven't had time to back-up yet), it's also a little bit limited, just like the Princess of Pleather. <g>) The Other Bad News is that I won't be able to update my site until I can get my big 'puter fixed. Hopefully, this will be done by Wednesday, but there are no guarantees. *Sigh* I also won't be able to respond to most emails-- I'm still having trouble with my ISP and with Simplenet as well. Oh, yeah, the stuff I've been writing in anticipation of the Long Drought? That's on the HD, too. Apparently, unseen forces ARE moving against me. :P

There is a bit of Good News-- the HD is probably fine, unless it somehow got magically fried as well. (Which I doubt-- I suspect that when I installed a new sound card, I somehow cracked the MoBo.) The downside is that the HD is SCSI, and I can't get at the data. *Sigh* The other bit of Good News is that, with some effort, I can read the posts through Netscape Messenger (but it's a terrible piece of SW.)

But the way I see it, if this is the worst thing that ever happens to me, then I'm one helluva lucky guy. Now I'm off to participate in my other favorite activity-- scrounging for computer parts. :P

Or maybe you just wanted to talke about really, really big boobs. Nothing wrong with that, of course. Considering the number of pictures available online, I sometimes refer to the Internet as "the silicone landscape."
