Just a little gloating (Spoliers: Lane Miserables)

Okay, it's time for me to be an arrogant bastard. ;) But, I'll leave that to the end...

First of all, I liked this episode. Maybe it's because I got a little 'shipper in me, sue me, okay? Anyway, it was cool seeing the famous Lane Family, all together for the first time on the show. Boy are they nuts. How did Jane and Trent (see, I spelled it right!!!) turn out so... normal? Relatively speaking, that is.

Trent and Jake seem to have simelar "father" issues, even if Trent's problem is the lack of one, whereas Jake's was just plain cruel. And we continue to see the intertwining of the two families, with Helen helping out Amanda, and Jane and Quinn getting to the point where they speak, in the same room, and they almost seem like sisters.

Bah, I'm ranting incoherant, now. It's way past my bedtime. I guess I'm just trying to actually put in some content to justify the gloating:

Let all of us who interpreted in this way gloat! It all boils down to one line: "Too bad you're not a few years older. I could take you out." Bwahaha! So, as was predicted by myself and a few others:

1. Treant _does_ have feelings toward Daria (which he openly aknowleded this ep).

2. It _is_ the age difference that holds him back. Perhaps if they remain around one another long enough, the age barrier could break down as she gets older, but, for the time being, it is _the_ issue.

What suprised me was the reappearance of Monique. Or, it didn't surprise, since somebody let it slip without a spolier warning, but the fact that the two are still involved (and as continually as Jane indicated) came out of the blue as far as I was concerned.

Just a little incoherant rambling and gloating... pay me no mind...

God i am sooo glad someone wrote about it. LOL. I really stopped watching once Daria said "I think I just got over something" after thinking about Trent.. so my life was ruined and I ran in the bathroom.. with the telephone of course and cried for an hour.. or so. I had actually waited til it was over to do this of course but the one quote had upset me sooo much i really was dwelling on it too much and wasn't understanding the end. Taking all of what i had left... the little will to live i had... my mom and me watched it together (yeah, my mom actually watches it too... hmm.... maybe it's turning into one of those family shows... ok... i refrain from that last comment) ..anyway... before i interrupted myself... I was sooo happy. I have to say though. I can't figure out how to analyze it... at the end after Daria's fantasy cuts off and she says "Damn" i at first though was because she lost feeling for him.. but then realized she says it BECAUSE she still has feelings for him and daydreams about him... And i though.. even if she said "Damn" because she had lost feelings for him (which i know now isn't the case.. but i like the analysis anyway) maybe... MTV is trying to make it so that NOW Trent likes Daria.. and Daria now doesn't have a crush on him (ok.. we know this isn't true.. but i wasn't sure at first... just sharing all the perspectives i had) Geez... this was a upsetting night at first... when i thought Daria had stopped liking Trent... my life had ended. I was *gasp* ... ok.. i'll say it... I almost gave up Daria for good.... but then i got my head together and watched it again... thatnk god i taped it is all i have to say. Well, until later.

And by the way, she fully realized that what Trent said at the end means that Trent likes her back. Which is WHY she had the second fantasy.

See, Daria was (on some level) angry with Trent for preferring Monique to her (which is what she assumes why he dates Monique instead of her; actually I think it's precisely because he has a higher opinion of Daria than of Monique that he doesn't date Daria). That lets her see his flaws for a change.

But at the end Trent as much as admits that he would prefer to be with Daria than with Monique. Which makes Daria's anger dissipate ... and makes her dream possible again ... only now she knows why it probably won't work out well.

Aww JESUS FRIGGIN' CHRIST!!! You would stop watching "Daria" if Daria got over her crush on Trent?

Glenn Eichler really said it best:

I swear, I am absolutely REGRETTING THE HELL OUT OF bringing Daria and Trent together in my fics. I think the 'Shippers are missing the point of the show. The crush is such a minor part of the show...GROW UP, GRRLS!!!

I agree! "Daria" has much more to it than Daria's crush on Trent. Not every episode has the crush in it. I like the crush in the sense that it shows Daria's "normal" teenage behavior, but "Daria" is a rich, well-written show that will always be interesting with or without the Daria and Trent thing.

You people have said it all right, yes the Daria and Trent thing is fun, only to be able to get a glimpse of the normal, more vulnerable side of Daria, but the show has great potential in every plot and aspect of the whole Daria series. I don't know if you can even call yourself a true Daria fan after saying you'd give up on the show with the death of one story plot. Daria's real fans, though they may not favor all the plot twists, keep watching for the sake of the good ol' Daria. I said what I needed to so now I shall go...

Alright. I'm feeling very judged... see I understand what you all are saying and that is true but... Number 1, I was in hysterics ..as i said and i fail to believe that i actually would have done so.. all i did was say that. Number 2, so i'm a BIG Daria/Trent 'shipper...so sue me.. what can i say.? I know it. I'm not saying that Daria doesn't have other interresting episodes.. and i'm not saying that i don't like the other episodes or anything... I just prefer the episodes with daria and Trent. That shouldn't be all that the show dwells on or anything... but i like them. Daria is a well written show and i love it overall even dispite the Daria/Trent thing BUT as i said.. like others I'm a daria/trent shipper.. so that's also a big thing to me.
