So here I was, happily recording "Daria Dance Party" and pausing out the commercials, when MTV just *HAD* to put on the upper right hand corner of the screen "Countdown to Spring Break - 2 days" It just kept scrolling, over and over, until it finally faded away. I don't know if I'll ever get to tape the episode again. I wanted to tape it without crap on the corner of the screen. So I'm really peeved at MTV. I mean Daria is the only thing worth watching on that network now that they almost never play videos. So MTV had to irk me when I was really enjoying the episode--one of my faves this year (after the contact lens one). Bollocks to you MTV!!!

Nobody here, that's for sure. Except for 'Daria', everything on MTV is total shite. Compared with the real-life losers on "the Real World", "Road Rules" or "the Blame Game", even Quinn looks deep, intelligent and mature.
And that Jesse guy, don't even get me started on him...
His humor just seems juvenile to me. The only episode fragment I saw (and will ever see) had him using the PA system in a Kmart, making a guy eat a urine-soaked pickle, and letting animals poop in his parents' home. I could see middle-school Beavises laughing at this crap, but not me.
Not to mention that GVSU's (local college here) was weeks before and my high school's is weeks after. But the little scrolly thing is annoying no matter what.

More or less. We have to say "Spring Break" because not everyone celebrates Easter, and apparently someone complained. If you say "Easter break" in my school, all my atheistic friends tear your throat out <g>
It does make a lot more sense to call it Spring Break, doesn't it? It is always referred to as the Easter holidays over here, which is stupid with the number of Muslims and Sikhs here. Whatever it should be called, I am dreading it. It's the week after next, for two weeks. Aside from the fact that I can't cope with holidays (or even weekends, for that matter), my Art exam starts on the Wednesday after it, and so far I have done half a sheet of A2 in preparation for it.... Argh, it's like the mocks all over again, I can't do that badly in the real exam!
It's relentless self-promotion. I guess they figure that the average MTV viewer has practically -0- attention span, and the average viewer is also unable to keep track of time, apparently.
Don't hold your breath on that one. *sigh* MTV's sister network, Comedy Central, figured out quickly how to cash in on SP, by getting 12 eps of it on video and DVD not only in its original format, (i.e., they didn't change anything, unlike MTV did with the first Daria video), CC also added bonus material as well. The first Daria video, which only contained the first 3 eps + pilot, didn't even have the original music-- and that made it pretty much unwatchable, considering that most people already had it on tape-- and although it was nice to see the oringinal pilot, it wasn't $20 nice. I'm not suprised that there never was another video-- the sales of the first were probably so disappointing that they just figured that nobody wanted it on video. (But, for some strange reason, it's MTV's #2 rated show... hmm... could it be that the video folks dropped the ball? Nah, couldn't be.)
So, unless a marketing miracle happens, might as well just keep the VCR warm and hope that maybe someone will start putting 2 & 2 together... but like I said, don't hold your breath. (They didn't even do Aeon Flux justice... but that's a whole other story.)
