I know a few people have voiced their opinions, and they gave the 5th season a "green light", but still how do *you* as fans feel about them moving the show to Friday nights? As someone already mentioned, if they hadn't already said there was going to be a 5th season, I'd think they were trying to kill off the show as well. Friday nights seem like a prime time for people to either be out, or kicking back from the rough week they've had. It seemed Wendesday night was the most ideal, since A) there was no wrestling to compete with B) people were most likely home. So any takes on this?

Apart from the issue of whether the time slot will affect the size of the audience and the future of the show, I couldn't care less.
I usually tape shows and watch them later, even if I'm not interested in keeping the tapes (as I do with Daria).
The networks are not going to force me to watch television at a time of their choosing, and they're not going to force me to waste my time watching the commercials at all.

My VCR has a commercial advance feature on it, which I'm sure will come in extra handy during MTV's long, obnoxious commercial breaks. It's not completely reliable, however; it leaves the occasional commercial break in...I wonder if that was a design flaw or a compromise?

As for audience ratings, Friday nights are usually known as the death slot I think. Same as all weekend nights in general. The only good thing that I can think of, is that Daria would probably be the only GOOD thing to watch Friday night. It would have ZERO competition, IMO. No South Park to worry about, no wrestling to compete with.
But it's true, it is a death slot. Only fans would take the time out to watch the show. Perhaps the "borrowing" of a few Nielsen boxes is in order? *grin*

MTV's probably categorized us (the core audience for "Daria") as the type of person who probably already has their Fridays free. We're the square pegs of MTV's audience. (No bonus points for getting the reference. ^_^)

I gotta agree here. After a long week, me and the hubby like to take Friday's off and just get some stuff done around the house, then go out and spend Saturday night at a pub or something. It'll be nice to have a break from all that TGIF crapola. Is Daria still gonna be on at 10??

ISTM that MTV is putting Daria in this time slot to get some spillover from the crowd who watches those TGIF shows on ABC. If that's the case, it is a good time slot -- they get the same audience without having to air directly opposite "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" or "Odd Man Out."
However, I question the timing of the time slot change: in early December, when most folks will be preoccupied with Xmas/Chanukah/Kwanzaa shopping to notice. Then again, MTV may be trying to provide an alternative to all those holiday specials.
And again, Friday night is traditionally a weak night for TV because most people are out (at the movies, at a party), or if they're at home, they're usually watching a rented movie. "Providence" on NBC is about the only show that's the exception to this rule. But for the most part, the broadcast networks are filling that 10PM (9 Central) time slot with inexpensive newsmagazines that always seem to have an audience. Maybe MTV is trying to get the people who are cable-surfing in desperation for something to watch on TV before finally giving up & going out into the cold winter night to the nearest Blockbuster.
In any case, I usually just tape the episodes & watch them later; time slot matters only if I'm trying to edit out all the commercials & don't want to watch the show at 4am to do so. Personally, I would like to see Daria back on Mondays at 10/9 Central (not much competition from the WB that night).
Bottom line for me: I'm just glad that Daria is still going to be on the air. As long as they can stick with one time slot for the entire season & not capriciously move it around from month to month I'm ok with any 7-10 pm time slot.
But, I get the feeling that we'll need to launch another letter-writing campaign (after the first batch of Season 4 eps) to fight for (a) Season 6 and (b) a decent time slot if thsi Friday 10pm doesn't work out.
I have a feeling that if it doesn't work on Friday at ten, then that's pretty much it for the series, fifth season or no. We'll see.Personally I thought that might be a decent time slot since they weren't gonna keep it on Wednesday. Any other time during the week is awkward.

As far as Friday night goes, it doesn't really matter what day its on, due to my odd schedule, the only night I'm home from work and social activities is Thursday and I didn't figure Daria would be moved there with Celebrity Deathmatch and Tom Green, so I'll end up taping them and watching them after work like with the previous seasons on both Monday and Wednesday, usually about 12:30a.m.
Otherwise I'd think they were trying to kill the show as well. Moving a show around makes some people forget, or so frustrated that they won't even bother to look for the new timeslot and give up, thus lowering ratings, and giving an excuse for cancellation when no other real excuse exists. I don't see that here, as the loyal core of fans will watch or tape it whenever its on, the problem would be attracting many new fans to the show, because as others have said Fridays are traditionally nights to go out with friends and relax after the work or school week. Alert all fans, dedicated, new, and potential new fans to the change so we can take that possibility away, or we can always rig the Nielsen boxes:-)
The only real good thing in all this, is that there will be virtually no competition with other shows as in previous years, wrestling and South Park, the biggest competitors. Doesn't really matter to me, as long as they're making new eps I'll be watching and/or taping them.
