Hilarious! I wouldn't expect much less from the writer of "The Daria Database"! I think the show is finally back on par, especially in comparison to last week's abomination... Of course "The Magic Hour" had more moments than last week's abomination.

Ms. Li is still a bit exaggerated, but at least this time it was funny. And I also notice that the "ghosting effect" has been removed. And Jake was stuck with a minor part again, but at least it was funnier than "Mmm" and "That's great, Kiddo."

Kevin and Brittany break up again! And this time they mean it!... Yeah, right. Everyone knew the inevitable. Still, it was an *okay* subplot that provided some good gags. Kevin's scene with some of the jocks finally verified that the three J's were indeed part of the team, and not just one of Kevin's mix-ups when he mentioned this fact in "The Invitation."

So far Peggy Nicoll has had a great track record of hilarious episodes. And I for one am willing to put aside a thin plot as long as the humor's top notch. Sam and Chris (the writers, not Sandi's brothers), however, have only had one good episode IMO ("Big House").

The only thing negative about this episode was the countdown "bug" for the spring break no one cares about. And was it just me, or was the theme song even SHORTER than the past edited versions?

Choice lines and scenes include:

HELEN: Here, make a guest house. JAKE: All right!

JANE: Maybe you're losing your looks. DARIA: Or maybe you're losing your mind. KEVIN: You think I'm losing my looks?!

JANE: But what about the baby?!

O'Neill trying to make the first move for once (and all the practicing for it).

Andrea gets a line this season besides "Hey."

Brittany suggests Jodie should watch TV, who then does a pop commercial reference for Mack. Did anyone else catch that?

JEFFY: Quinn, we'd like to help, but, y'know... we're guys.

JEFFY: MY HEAD HURTS!! (He has more in common w/ Quinn than he thought; recall #301)

Was anyone else surprised to see the return of Robert (from "The New Kid")? "Yes, Ma'am."

Fashion Club VP Quinn actually wore a crappy outfit to the dance (IMO, anyway).

The boys' escape from Sandi's "party." Kevin walks into a closet; simple gag, but pure Kevin.

Jane and Daria find guys worth talking to only to discover that "they carry the dreaded Ruttheimer gene."

QUINN: Those guys must really like Brittany to fight over her. [And the entire parking lot gets in a fight]

The entire plus/minus run-down of the events, especially the final plus. :) For once it isn't spring in Lawndale.

Just 'cause it's fashionable doesn't mean it looks good, especially at the Delia-bopping age the FC is at. (BTW, did anyone else catch that the whole FC is in English together, even though Sandi is supposed to be 16? Another weird inconsistency.) Just look at those friggin' bell bottoms. Not to mention today's shoes. Icky, IMHO. In fact, the suits the FC were wearing look oddly similar to the ones in my friend's copy of Delia*s. Hmmm.

This lends support to the notion that Quinn really is smart. Then again, aside from Sandy, and Quinn, the rest of the fashion club are pretty dim, so maybe they've been held back.

Did anyone notice that Upchuck was playing RECORDS during the dance. I had the idea those were going out of style.

I'm kidding! Yes, I knew it was "Close Encounters." It's a very famous scene used for parody. Everyone obsesses about the potato scene more than the top being torn from the clay sculpture of the mountain, though. I thought a similar clay scene could've worked with Jane. :)

It always seems surreal whenever Jodie pulls a zinger for some reason.

I noticed Corey. I'm gonna hafta double check on Skyler, though.

I think that's the main function of Andrea...to deliver Daria/Jane lines when they're occupied doing something else.

Kevin was getting the other guys to agree NOT to take Brittany to the dance. Mack already is dating Jodie, so he wouldn't be involved in that.

I don't know. It must be difficult to come up with a sarcastic "style" which is different from both Daria's and Jane's, especially in such a minor character. But that poem she read at the coffeehouse didn't make me think that it was something Daria would have written. When Andrea came out with her one-liner, I thought, "Daria should have said that", and it seemed awkward to me.
