I have a radical proposal to make, Jesse is not as dumb as he appears.
My (slim) evidence: I was just watching road worrier again, and if you work it out his entry in the "I'm going to the picnic" game has to have been "the cryogenically frozen head of Walt Disney".
This suggests to me that he may be the kind of person that has deep thoughts, but has problems interacting with people on a face to face level. I have that problem, I get email saying phone me and will email back "why" instead of phoning.
Maybe Jesse knows how stupid, and shallow most people are in Lawndale, so to save his mental sanity, and energy, he has withdrawn himself into a little reverie in his mind and does not talk to many people. Thus, making him smarter for doing so. *whew*. Or he could just be that dumb. Who knows?

Just because Daria fans tend to be intellectual, and Daria fans tend to be twisted, does not mean intellectual=twisted.
Kyle He complained when I hit him. All my friends do. Wusses.
I dont think he was playing because Jane says, "your turn Trent, we're up to d" and then after Trent goes, they skip right over Jesse and go to Daria, and then its Jane's turn again. So he couldn't have been playing, unless they skipped his turn.

Hm... Interesting point. Of course, even if they didn't skip him, everyone knows that Walt Disney wasn't cryogenically frozen-- that's just the cover rumor for what *really* happened to him after he "died." You see he was [censored by your friendly local conspiracy.]
And that's why Jesse really is as thick as he sounds.
Yeah, that's what I heard. They said that Walt wasn't cryogenically frozen, just the organization he left behind.
I would give Jesse some big points for even KNOWING the word "cryogenically." And even having heard the rumor about Walt Disney means he's somewhat aware. And another fistfull of points for even knowing who Walt Disney was. Some of the more brainless of his generation might not even know about this entertainment pioneer who died about 10 years before he was even born. (Considering how many in Mr. DeMartino's history class know so little about the "Viet Cong war" or "Operation Watergate.")
And consider: Who fixed Daria's Glasses? ("Great! Duct tape.") And who had the duct tape handy for just such emergencies? (Well it could have just been lying in the van. If there hadn't been some duct tape in there it would have had to have been the only thing missing.) That might not be quite the same as carrying a supply of cyanoacrylate but it shows intelligence that he can cope with problems and fix things. Jane and her Stickmata 5000 and Jesse with his duct tape make quite a team.

I'll agree that this has to be the order of play . So Jesse must have been playing and he must have contributed the "Cryogenically frozen head of Walt Disney." There's no reason for Jesse to have been excluded. It would have been more reasonable to exclude Trent so he could "see one coming."
The game would have started, naturally, with Daria. Leave it to Daria to suggest such a game. Her friend Jane would have naturally picked up the game and thus be second. In fact she'd take over managing the game, she's the only one in the van who could accept that role, passing the game play to Jesse and then prompting Trent for his turn. Maybe she chose this order because she thought it might be more "romantic" for Trent's turn to immediately precede Daria's.
My mom has duct tape in the van in case something broke (such as my little sister's Laa-Laa) But I doubt that Trent is that provident Marianne PS- I know how to spell cryogenically. (Look! And I don't use a dictionnary) Walt Disney was incinerated 3 days after his death

C'mon, I think that here in A.T.D we're above this kind of thing. We endeavor to spell everything perfectly, as well as doing everything else perfectly, but there shouldn't be any need for excoriating each other for the occasional spelling error or typo.
Above all else we ought to try to learn from each other.
Of course there are the occasional spelling or other usage errors that are just too tempting a target to resist. Nothing wrong with a little fun--as long as no one's feelings get hurt.
No, Jesse had to be playing. Think about it: Daria's 1st answer started with 'A' ("asbestos insulation"). Then Jane's answer started with 'B' ("brine shrimp"). Then Jesse's turn came, & his answer started with 'C' ("cryogenically frozen head..."). Then Trent followed with a 'D' answer ("dromedary"). So the game would have gone like this:
a- Daria b- Jane c- Jesse d- Trent e- Daria ("Eurocentric view of world history") f- Jane g-Jesse h- Trent etc., etc. (if Daria's glasses hadn't broken)
The argument can be made either way: just because Jesse came up with a very creative answer in the Picnic Game (& give him extra points for knowing that "cryogenic" doesn't start with a 'K'), it doesn't necessarily put him in the "Brain" category. On the other hand, just 'cuz he's mainly monosyllabic doesn't necessarily make Mr. Moreno moronic. True, he doesn't always seem swift on the uptake most of the time -- but some of the nerdiest people I know are like that. They know about everything in the world except what's right in front of them.
No, he couldnt have been playing. The order couldn't have been Daria, Jane, Jesse, Trent, because in the beginning of that scene, Jane says "your turn Trent, we're up to d." I know it is possible for her to have just said that, but I think she would only say that after HER turn. So the order could have went like this: Trent: Jane: Daria: Although Im, not sure because Jane may have just been reminding him of his turn, and the game may have included Jesse....now im confused....hmm, Jesse does seem smarter than he looks though...I guess you could be right, I could be crazy...who knows!

A friend of mine accused me of "Tune Crime"-ing her the other day. I never knew there was a word (two, actually) for it. Now if I can only get the damned theme from "Maude" out of my head... Damn you, TV Land!
