alright, so i've analysed the clip on mtv.com. everyone's speculating who's in the crash, that maybe the rest is a flashback, if it's a *main*main character that's hurt, etc.
you know who i think is the "miss" in "miss, are you all right? miss?"..... daria.
here's my idea: the car crash happens first thing. then we go to the whole refrigerator thing, which is a flashback to earlier (in the day, week, whatever). daria tells jane later that tom is going to the cove for a week, and how they can spend more time together (her and jane).
jane insinuates that it might not actually happen, considering that the same things had been said before, with roles reversed (jane said there'd be more time to spend together, and daria was dubious). perhaps daria decides to go up and visit tom while he's at the cove (or tom calls and says either he'd like her to be his guest, or that he's up there and would like her for company), and she gets in the car crash on the way there.
