Daria For President

Other than the age thing, is there anything in the US constitution that prevents a cartoon character from taking office?

Well, now, they have to be "born" American citizens. That's the constitution. The Supreme Court has never ruled on whether being drawn on celluloid is equivalent to a birth.

Actually, I don't see Daria as a politician. Maybe an admin job, something involving her literary interests, like Director of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The character that most reminds me of a politician is Miss Li, especially for the way she's always promoting herself.

I don't know for sure about the constitution; you'd have to look up legal rulings made involving various Walt Disney characters' campaign bids. But let me tell you something about the electorial process.

People like Daria can never get elected because:
not only does she take concrete stands on certain issues,
not only is she outspoken to the point of tactlessness on her opinions,
but she says what she thinks without any concern as to
whether
     or
           not
                 it
                     is

POPULAR!

She's alienate whole voting segments every time she opened her mouth, be labeled 'controversial' by the press, and then her only significance would be how many votes she might pull away from the Republican candidate in the event the election was really, really, close.

The winner was Donald Duck, who was disqualified for being a cartoon character. I'm not sure the second-place finisher is too interested in taking the seat, however - it's Al Gore, who is disqualified for not being a resident of Marion County anyway.

I think Donald Duck should demand a recount.
