Some observations: -Sandi was a total b***h in this one. -We see a Fashion Club grooming ritual. -Marco is a talcum powder model. -Jake's name for the floating glow-in-the-dark key chain is "The radioactive Duck". -Quinn gets stood up (kinda). -Mr. DeMartino is a compulsive gambler. -Mr. O'Neill slaps Mr. DeMartino (Hehehehe). -Daria and Jane put all their chips on #13. -There are two Titanic references; the "king of the world" bit at the front of the ship, and the lack of needed lifeboats on a sinking ship. This was a late reference to this movie, -but it takes a while to make an episode of "Daria". -Kevin & Brittany get stranded on the one lifeboat. -Daria does something nice for Quinn. A rare sight indeed. -Some reminders of "The Daria Hunter": Jake and Helen volunteer for a student trip despite their daughters' objections, Helen and Ms. Li get mad at each other, Ms. Barch and Mr. O'Neill make-out, Daria and Jane get all wet. -Sandi gets dumped in front of everyone.

Great lines: -DARIA: "We only go around once... I hope."

-DARIA: "So the only means of escape is drowning."

-DARIA: "Damn it. She saw right through our facade of hopefulness." JANE: "She's the 12th person today."

-SANDI: "Gee, Quinn, I hope this inability to retain simple information is just temporary and not symptomatic of a more serious, underlying problem."

-MS. LI: "I haven't heard anyone try so hard to squirm out of a school event since Helen Morgendorffer made up that *ridiculous* excuse about being allergic to crepe paper."

-JANE: "Uh-oh. It's the voices again."

-DARIA: "Now I'll never be able to but that college."

-MARCO: "I used to go out with my hair uncombed and stuff but then I realized that by looking good brings a little beauty into the lives of people surrounded by their own ugliness."

-MARCO: "I look really great on a boat."

-JAKE: "The invisible man here will be happy to drive you to school." DARIA: "Will you be wearing those neat bandages."

-DARIA: "The knife just slipped... 67 times." JANE: What can you say? Some people are just klutzy."

-MR. DEMARTINO: "Take this then Jane, for being so..." JANE: "So...?" MR. DEMARTINO: "...angular."

-SANDI: "She and Marco are probably fighting over mirror space."

-DARIA: "I hope the fire-breathing Cyclopes hasn't caught me yet."

-QUINN: "Daria, I need your advice."

-JANE: "And I suppose if someone told you to read a book you'd do that too."

-DARIA: "Mom? Dr. Moreau invited you to the island too?"

-KEVIN: "Wait! I think I see the rescue boat! Oh no. It's a cloud."

As she is in all of Peggy Nicoll's scripts ("The Daria Hunter," "Fair Enough," and "Daria Dance Party"). She's almost as bad as fanfic authors in how snottily she portrays Sandi. :-)

Which we've only gotten a glimpse of from The Daria Database.

It does fit his personality.

I'm presuming that this script was written when Titanic-mania was at an all-time high.

Well, we *have* seen it before ("Too Cute" comes to mind, where Daria saves Quinn from ruining her looks via Dr. Shar's ministrations; also "Monster," where she spares Quinn humiliation by toning down the video).

Again, many elements of a Peggy Nicoll script.

Well, Sandi is the closest thing the show has to a teenaged villain. I honestly can't think of a single "good" attribute she has ... even when she acts "nice" it's in a condescending sort of fashion. The only sympathetic thing I can say about her is that she must have had a very loveless upbringing to be the way she is.

"Compulsive" EVERYTHING. Note that he genuinely does like Daria ... or at least dislikes her LESS than the LOATHING he feels for the pathetic EXCUSES for students who fill his CLASSROOM! *eye bugging out on every emphasis*

Daria loves Quinn. She just doesn't want to admit it, not even to herself.

Even before I finished this line I could imagine Mr. D saying this and snickering to myself. Very clever.
