Whew! Ok, folks, it looks like everything is back to normal. Guess "Daria!"TM was a one shot deal. We return you now to your regularly scheduled madness.

So our little girl is all grown up and learning to drive. Go for it! Was it just me or did Helen look like she was driving a SUV? Jeez! Around these parts all the hausfraus drive these monsters. On the plus side they can haul an entire soccor team with all their equipment.

The return of Aunt Amy. God, I hope she becomes something of a regular. The ability to piss off Helen and advise Daria. What a combo!

Daria going to Quinn for advice. Could see what was coming. Quinn screaming, "You're giving me a headache!", and Daria running screaming from the room. Had me ROTF.

Is it just me or is Jane getting all the really good lines?

This ep worked for me. Daria confronting a part of herself that she hoped wasn't there, vanity. I think she came out of her wrestling match with her inner demon quite well.

This next part is really only for those who can sing,"I'm proud to be a home for a Y chromosome.".

Daria's babedom. IIRC it was in 'Quinn the Brain' that Daria showed what she could really do if she wanted to, ie, look HOT. I don't believe that she wants to attract the type of Y-homes that would see her as just a babe, but at the same time, she could appear less, shall I say, outwardly hostile? Bottom line, glasses or contacts? My vote?

She always has. Of course the focus is on Daria's wit and sarcasm, but Jane matches and even bests her at every turn. My favorite lines from the series are all Jane's: "By the way, anything eating away at your soul?" "It would be stupid to say yes now." "Gosh, Daria, don't you get it? You did something *stupid* for a *guy*. Gee, you may join the human race after all."

So far, Jane is the strongest, most consistent character in the show. (Maybe that should be "the most consistent strong character." Kevin's consistently stupid, and Jake's consistently a buffoon, but they're both so superficial as to hardly be considered characters). We've seen the weaknesses of all the other important characters. We haven't seen Jane's weakness yet. I'd really like to know what Jane's vulnerability is, especially since it could provide an opportunity to see more of Daria's deeper strength.

Either way. In retrospect, I've always been partial to women with glasses, but it's not a *rule* or anything. My wife's done both, and found glasses easier to live with in the long term. And I'm sufficiently enamoured of her appearance to think that either way looks good.

Now, if we're talking Daria's babehood, as far as I'm concerned, the best thing she could do is to copy Aunt Amy's hair style.

Jane's more corruptible than Daria is by the desire to compromise herself in order to make friends / be liked, I think. The reason why she doesn't is that right now her best friend (and the one she wants to keep on liking her) *is* someone pretty uncompromising. With a different best friend I think she might have drifted into drugs or promiscuity or something else bad.

They complement each other well, actually. Jane persuades Daria to open herself to new experiences while Daria serves as an anchor for Jane's experimentation. Neither would be doing as well without the other, though I think Daria could handle herself better alone.

Not all of them...but with Daria having the problem of the week, it seems appropriate for Jane to get the humorous lines. When the plot is more Jane-centric then I'd imagine Daria would be getting more of the good lines.

I could sing it, but my Y doesn't quite work the same way as most people.
