"I've always been a big fan of reggae, and when I was in high school on summer vacation in Maryland, I went to see a Ziggy Marley concert. After the show, I was at a local hotel and in walked Ziggy himself. He started a conversation with me. I mentioned I lived in Santa Barbara, California, where he had an upcoming show, and he said he'd give me tickets. We immediately hit it off and hung out talking all night. A week later, I was back in California, standing backstage with an all-access pass in my hand. When he played 'Could You Be Loved' for his encore, he pulled me onstage, hugged me close, and we sang it together. It was the ultimate rush. We wound up dating for several monhs. He was living in Bob Marley's house in Jamaica, and I visited there several times. Then, one day, I was watching MTV and I found out his ex-girlfriend was pregnant with his child. That was the end of our relationship" (Danielle Pergament, 25, magazine editor, as quoted in *Cosmopolitan*, June 1999, pg 132).
Heh, at least she *was* in high school at the time, and presumably rather naive. Val didn't have that particular excuse, though she pretended to.
