Now that everything has hit the fan, as it were, a thought occurred to me. I wonder if we'll get to see the other characters' reactions to the yearbook photo of Daria and Tom as a "couple" that was taken in "I Loathe a Parade"? Could shake things up a bit. Guys start showing interest in Daria, wondering what they missed that Tom noticed. Girls start associating with her to find out how she landed a catch like Tom. I can't even imagine Kevin and Britney's reactions to a great looking guy dating an "unpopular brain". It would be a critical hit to their worldview.

I can't believe I forgot about those! All the pictures of Daria and Tom? You're right; they'll probably resurface in the movie.

2nd Spoiler Space If You Don't Want The Movie Spoiled . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Take a look at the "flipbook" on the Offical Daria site. One picture features Daria, Tom, Kevin, and Brittany. Brtitany is waving to Tom.

They may like her, as much as they are allowed to by their self-perceived social roles, but they still have set views of her in their tiny little minds. After all, in "The F Word", Brittany went to Daria for advice on being unpopular... ...wait a second. I just realized, she was uncomfortable during the conversation and went out of her way to avoid the word "unpopular". She was actually showing _concern_ for Daria's feelings. Wow.

They're also hung up on "the rules", like Brittany's rule "cheerleaders can only date football players" (from A Tree Grows in Lawndale).

They'll just assume there's a rule that brainy girls have to date prep- school guys.

Especially QUINN! I can't guess what her reaction's going to be. The idea that Daria was making out with another girl's boyfried in front of the Morgendorffer house - during a Blush-a-Thon, no less! - will boggle her mind.

I was wondering if anyone else the way Daria used Quinn as her "sounding board" i.e. ask her what she would have done, then did the opposite. A way of confirming to herself what she knew she had to do. I just foune it interesting, because I find the development of Daria and Quinn's relationship one of the most interesting aspects of the show. And this time it was done without any fanfare or comedy to highlight the incident itself, but to enhance the story being told in "Dye Dye My Darling".

And in "I Loathe a Parade", we saw that Tom is willing to quite emphatically leap to Daria's defense when someone upsets her. I can see him ripping into Sandy after one of her typical disparaging remarks. (Although personally, I'd rather see Stacy grow a spine and do it herself.)
