I think you might have to look at a surplus store, Steve, unless you have access to a PX (Post Exchange) for those boots. Daria's choice of footwear might not be a social statement, but rather one of practicality... combat boots are real long wearing and inexpensive (if they're surplus that is), which seems to suit her needs. After all, she does do a lot of walking. (The &c part of this message is meant to request tolerance with regard to this message thing....i'm just getting the hang of it, so any blatant screwups are purely unintentional ) regards.

They're not cheap, though. I know we're paying about $180.00 US for the ANSI Z-41 compliant ones we wear as EMS duty boots. The ones Daria has would probably go for $75 - $115, depending on the exact specs. (Men's boots slightly more expensive...usually about $10 more).
And comfotable. In fact, I find it hard to find "regular" casual shoes as comfortable as my duty boots.
